So according to my co-worker, he says zombies are trainable. I have to disagree with him on that one. The only function that they have is to feed and basic motor skills. he says thats all you need. What do you guys think. And im talking about ZOMBIES, not voodoo zombies, or shawn of the dead zombies. like Dawn of the Dead, resident evil....those zombies
I'm going to assume from your examples that you mean the Dawn of the Dead remake that aren't 'proper' zombies anyway.
I make this assumption because if you had meant the original Dawn of the Dead you'd subscribe to the Romero mythos, which if you'd seen both Day and Land it is shown that they still possess capacity to learn.

Don't get me wrong, i prefer my zombies to be nothing more than mindless eating machines, a la Max Brooks, but for the love of God, don't come on here spouting beliefs about what 'proper' zombies are only to list a remake and the freiking Resident evil films.
ya never assume buddy, the zombies from the remake are not zombies because real zombies cant run due to Rigamortis. and when i say resident evil i mean the games. and spouting beliefs? your the one whos getting a little to overworked over this whole thing. when people say 28 weeks later and resident evil 4,5 those arnt zombies. i never said what a proper zombie was, i just gave some references on what i was talking about.

The zombies in the Dawn of the Dead franchise were intelligent enough to train eventually. Just as an FYI

Excuse me - last time I checked, zombies didn't exist.
I believe it was meant as a hypothetical question. Besides, just because they don't exist at the moment, doesn't mean they can't exist later.
Meaning that we do not have a physical subject to test the theory on.

It's like asking 'are vampires really afraid of garlic'.
I hope to jeebus you aren't taking this as serious as you seem to be

No, they are mindless(As in, no real mind) beings who are in-capable of reason.
Does anyone read Max Brooks???
I'm looking at the Survival guide and World War Z as I'm typing this, they are on my bookcase to my left.

im goin with yes but it depends purely on the zombie.

if they are infected like in dawn of the dead or the resisdent evil games then no, they are only capable or motorfunction and survival.

however if they are created through necromantic forces then yes but only by the one who created them

I swear that zombies in a shape or form exist and they've been made to do menial tasks

Not raised-from-dead zombies, but some kind of braindead slave

EDIT: Yeah, I checked it out. It's a chemical called datura stramonium (or any other Alkaloid) that puts a person into a trace with no memory, but able to do basic tasks such as eating or simple manual labour.

Whether or not this is fully accurate, I cannae tell (curse you, internet!) but who knows?

As their brain rots more anything learned will vanish.
And what if he is loading some crates five meters away from your delicious unspoiled brain when that happens?

Bullets are all that must penetrate zombie brains, not lessons.

Ive heard of that also. I think that is something that has to do with voodoo rituals(ie: voodoo zombies

Heh, only voodoo zombies have a proper brain TO train. Everyone else gets to be nomilicious to the zombie.
