I usually play a Redguard in Morrowind, because they were ridiculously awesome. I tried a bunch of races for Oblivion (Wood Elves, High Elves, Dark Elves, Bretons, and Redguards) but I could never got very far in the game except with the Wood Elf (second Oblivion gate or something).

I usually dabbled with the custom races, as most of the vanilla ones either were too bland for me or had some major fault I couldn't tolerate. My most recent playing I picked up the Moonshadow Elves race for Oblivion, they've got some interesting things the modder added in like their night based buff.
I might have to try that (custom races) on my next install, I have a problem with compulsive minmaxing and the default races seem lackluster at best.

Dark Elf all the way. Although I've never used Ancestor Ghost once.

Well that's a lie, I have done one playthrough as a Khajiit. Wouldn't mind trying Argonian as that water breathing looks pretty damn handy.

I'm a dark elf fan all the way. I'm not sure why, but I've always liked the culture of the dark elves compared to the others.

i would say dark elf but bethesda just made them less badass in oblivion with the height nerf and making them less rugged.

Morrowinds: Nords are really fun, especially after you get blood moon

Oblivion: Argonians for their unique culture, also I can specialize in a bunch of stealth magic and combat skills but no armor, and run really fast to make a good all rounder thats not the standard all rounder

Off Topic: Bring back spears, unarmored, and medium armor

If you have a complusive nature (I did this as well) might I suggest you pickup the following mods: Progress, Enhanced Mercantile Progress, and Realistic Leveling.

All are available at TESnexus, and will turn the game into a more natural flow of experience. Instead of having to minmax before leveling, each skill you level slowly attributes points into stats (obviously not 1:1), as well that it helps slow the unhealthy speed of leveling in the vanilla game. It's let me stop worrying about getting my stats right while I play and now I can just run around and play at my whim, you know, when the game is behaving itself.

High Elf Mage, mothafucka.

But I also made a Khajiit... class... that fights hand-to-hand and with bows. With Night-Vision. It's quite fun to play.

Argonians, but only because they're the most awesome-looking. That and they're the only race who's voice doesnt make me want to tear out parts of my brain (damn bretons...)

Breton. Once you level up completely it pretty much comes down to how much magic you have. Although my first character was an argonian.

Nor or woodelf. as nord I hacked everything to death, and as Woodelf I did that, only without making any sound!

I've never played a ES game, but I'm going to base my choice of Nord off of Yahtzee's review. They seem intuitive and interesting!
Intuitive and interesting? The big guys who were made to hit things with big weapons and not do much else? Doooohohohoho!

I play Nord though, just because I find magic to be almost entirely useless in ES games with the exception of Restoration. Healing is always handy.

In Morrowind: A Nord with heavy armor and heavier weapons.

In Oblivion: A stealthy Bosmer with maxed-out Marksman and Sneak.

Wood elf here.

I wanted to specialise in archery, you see. Then I abandoned it once I realised swords were way better, and opted for stealth instead.

Imperial, I'm boring and prefer to play as a regular human in any fantasy RPG. They're the easiest to relate to. They're also the least stereotyped, in my opinion. Elves are aloof and mystical. Orcs are brutal and direct. Humans can be anything from "ultimate evil" to "ultimate good", and the Imperials are the most average of all the humans in Oblivion.

If I want some of that Khajiit sneaking or Argonian underwater breathing, I'll just make spells for it. I never even use the Imperial racial ability, so I'm not bound by that.
Hell, my Imperial character's class is disgustingly varied to an absurd degree:

I wear heavy armour, use bows, or one-handed swords. I never use shields. I tend to sneak around, a lot.
My seven skills, as I can remember was: Acrobatics, Armourer, Athletics, Blade, Heavy Armour, Marksman, Restoration and Sneaking.
