Yes, I used the search button and saw a post that was somewhat relevant to this topic back in May. I was curious however to see it broken down into a poll.

Personally I began gaming with the classic Nintendo at the age of six and have been a gamer ever since. I'm now married to a gamergurl (oh Lord forgive my internet language) and have 2 boys who I've corrupted with gaming. (Just built them their own gaming PC, ah the circle of life goes on.) Despite the stress and trials of "adult" life, I still find plenty of time to game solo and with my wife/kids/friends.

Unfortunately it seems from random statements I've gotten from co-workers and such, I am in the minority. So, what is your take on the situation? Do the games still draw you in with their pixelish charms, or has gaming become more of a backseat hobby? One of those "pseudo-hobbies" that you only revisit for nostalgia's sake?

It's hard to keep gaming when the majority of the games coming out are just more of the same.

I don't know why people insist on putting this into their threads. If you did indeed use the search button, then no one would say anything. If you did and you say this though, it makes you sound guilty or something.

Anyway...

I used to game constantly. I used to be excited for games coming out years in advance. After I got out of high school and started working though, I guess I kind of lost touch. I still game a lot, but I don't look forward to releases anymore. At least, not many. And sometimes, when I do look forward to one, I won't even get the game, just out of sheer laziness. Figures as soon as I can pay for my own games this would happen.

Yes, well until Golden Sun 3 was released. Already got my tent in front of my local gamestop, its especially convenient considering its in a mall. I plan on starting a Shantytown / Renaissance Faire.

I've found myself to fall into the second category, but I've been sliding into the casual gaming department until I rediscovered Streets of Rage 2 and recently beat hard mode. It feels good to finally be competent at something I thought I'd never get the hang of again! My gaming skills had been declining for some time before this.

In any case, I've found myself hooked on challenges. Not necessarily the hardest challenge in a game, but something which pushes me.

I chose the "you're all a bunch of freaks" option, if only for irony's sake.

I suppose as I don't play games as much as I once did, though that's mainly because I've simply branched out in my variety of hobbies and interests.

I enjoy gaming quite a lot tho, and I'd have to say I still sink a sizeable chunk of my time and money into playing them.

Well, considering I've been following the community for a month or so now but I'm also incredibly new (*cough* made my account today *cough*) I've seen my share of "use the search button!" comments. I just wanted to be sure that those who generally make said comments know that I'm aware of the guidelines and have tried my best to follow them. I'll probably feel more comfortable as I post more and get into the escapist "groove" in all honesty. *shrug*

I'm still a gamer, but my tastes have shifted more in the direction of smaller adventure games that would be right at home on the DS. Phoenix Wright is a perfect example. I'm less interested in the mainstream console scene, but that's a good part because there just aren't a lot of good games being released right now.

Meh, I'm not picking on you. Even some vets do it. I'm fairly new as well, but it's something I always see.

so I've become much geekier all round. And fat. Damn.
I've found that to be an unfortunate side effect to having a gamer life and wife. Especially when she cooks well and often. Mmmm. Ribs. *drool* Anyway, *pats stomach* she likes my little belly so I guess I lucked out there as well.

No worries, I just feel like I have to explain myself, I guess. I'll get better with it as time goes by.

- Edit to avoid double post.

What are these funny new places where hair grows? There are the regular places, does your hair grow on someone elses face or something? That would be funny and new. XD

I'm more of a casual gamer, at this point.

I just don't have fun like I used to.
Oh my! I've lured the fabled Max out of hiding! *pounce!* Ok yeah, I've seen you post a lot during my usual perusing hours so I have a small measure of pride to see you post in my thread. *puffs chest*

Well, back about 13 years ago when I actually noticed peach fuzz on my face and that I needed to put more deoderant on under my armpits then before, I thought it was rather funny, in a "OMG, what's happening to me!?" kind of way. Then mommy and daddy told me I was normal and I laughed at them and said, "you really must not know me then."

BTW, forgive me, I've yet to find the information necessary on how to "correctly" quote two different posts at once. (which is why I can't seem to get the link to work with the second post I quote) *grumble*
