Edit: Ok, please, if you don't know ANYTHING about pro wrestling, or haven't seen it in a while, ASK AWAY.
As much as I like giving my opinion to other fans, I REALLY want to educate non fans.
Please, ask me something that you don't already know.
ESPECIALLY if you are indifferent or opposed to pro wrestling.

Well, a long while ago (And on and off for a while afterwards) I did a thread where I opened up my heart and mind with the hope that I could open up your hearts and minds to the magic of pro wrestling, by answering questions and clearing up misconceptions.

A lot has changed since then, with fresh shows and attractions popping up and now we even have new site design to explore!

I figured that with all these new (gullible) users around, it was time for me to answer more questions!

So fire away about anything pro wrestling.
Real Names of wrestlers (though you could find that yourself, silly)
Historical Questions? (First person to use entrance music? I know that one)
Backstage Gossip and Rumors?
How matches work? (Vaguely)
Pro Wrestling Abroad? (From Great Britain, to Panama, to South Africa, I can give you a good briefing)
Or just general questions about the fans...

If you didn't know before, now the time to ask!

To start us off, here's Kawada vs. Misawa '92, set to Tchaikovsky

I know the answer to this, but why was Batista generally disliked backstage?

I haven't been a big fan since 2006, but I've still been following it, watching most of the PPVs and such.
Ego, mostly.
They way he came up into the business struck some as a bit privileged, compared to what usually passes as "paying your dues". He was a body builder that got trained by the Wild Samoans, and then accelerated through Developmental because Johnny Ace liked his look. Some felt like he didn't have talent or any real charisma, beyond just looking like a big guy. That, and he complained a lot over nothing.
Originally he was so juiced up, when he began training, that he pulled something just taking a basic fall.
This explains it:

Why do TNA matches feel like everyone is moving in slow motion?

Conversely, why are WWE Diva matches such crap? There is potential there and it seems like they just jerk around(....) a lot with their women's division.

I know, very subjective and loaded questions. >.>

Because TNA is a terrible place to work, where noone is paid enough, nothing is done about drugs, and nobody really cares anymore. It's a GREAT place to get burned out...

Because most of these Divas weren't trained well. The difference between Divas and actual lady wrestlers comes in that Divas were trained with kid gloves on, and are often models who see wrestling as a first step towards an acting career or a playboy shoot.
Look up the documentary Gaia Girls, and take a look at what REAL lady wrestlers look like.
My faves:
Cheerleader Mellisa
Sara Del Ray
Meiko Satomura
Syuri
Ayako Hamada

Hmm, I never saw that video lol, I was thinking more of the interviews Batista gave where he basically called the entire Smackdown roster a bunch of unmotivated hacks and how he wanted to purge WWE of all the worthless talent.

What's your opinion on the Montreal Screwjob? I used to think Bret really did get screwed over, but after seeing both his documentary and the DVD where he went face to face with Shawn Michaels in an interview for two hours, I can only come to the conclusion that Vince was mostly correct in his actions. Bret Hart is a whiny *****, all he ever does is complain and pat himself on the back. I also have a vague feeling he took Shawn's famous "I won't put you over" words out of context, keeping in mind that both Bret and Shawn admit to having been good friends years before.

Also needless to say, I think the only reason the screwjob was so controversial was because it happened in Canada, and Bret Hart was being pushed as a very pro-Canadian guy. I think that might be one of the only reasons I sided with him at first, now that I think about it, I don't think many Americans really gave a damn about it all.
This has something to do with it...
this could too, if he ever releases it:
That, btw, is the documentary "The Real Maxx Payne" It was shot by Maxx Payne (Man Mountain Rock) during his 1995 WWF tenure. Unlike "Beyond the Mat", this guy had full access and got all kinds of dirt. (That and, unlike with beyond the mat, Maxx wasn't being worked by the wrestlers, unlike Blaustein)
Over the years, he's threatened to release it over 10 times, but never has.

Are you a Command and Conquer fan? Did you watch Tribute to the Troops? Did you get a little excited in a nerdy way when during the Triple H video they started playing the main theme from Command and Conquer Generals? :B

I'd post the video, but I think youtube videos of WWE programs, even the weekly ones, are copyright violations. Do you know if they are?

Kind of. They're in a legal grey area, in that if they don't know about it they won't take it down. Just like any copyrighted content on youtube.
And, no I'm more of an Age of Empires/Shining Force guy, but I've been meaning to try Command and Conquer.

I sincerely fail to understand the implication here.
Isn't saying something like that a bit hypocritical on a video gaming forum, wherein most of the users have been told, at one point or another, that they're too old for their hobby?
Besides, not all wrestling is general audiences.
Like Big Japan Pro Wrestling here:
But yeah, occasional blood and guts aside, I really have no reason to be self conscious about being a pro wrestling fan at any age. Neither does anyone, really.
Are you self conscious about those Space Marines? I wouldn't be, because space marines are freaking awesome.
BTW, here's some wrestling from your part of the world:

How worked do you feel CM Punk's angle was/is?

Also, favourite wrestler? Modern and classic, if you'd be so kind. :p

Really? I thought it was extremely obvious, I'm saying that wrestling is childish.

I don't think so, no. Videogames have matured a lot since the 80s, wrestling not so much.

I'm not talking about some niche market, I'm talking about the mainstream stuff I see on TV here. After watching that video though it really doesn't seem that much different anyway.

Lol, that's pretty jokes. Just to be clear I'm not coming at this from any sort of nationalist perspective, there are plenty of childish people here in England too.

Yes, I know that you were saying wrestling is childish, I simply chose to fail to understand why.

I, from the perspective of a guy that's seen a lot of wrestling (Travis Touchdown levels of wrestling fandom, really), see pro wrestling as having changed a lot since the 1980's. Wrestling can be as immature or mature as you want it. On one hand you have super serious Ring of Honor, with promos like this:

or silly like Chikara pro
It's all out there...

What do you mean, not too much different? Light tubes, barbed wire, dangerous head drop suplexes...That's pretty different...

You know which ones...

Also, I wasn't implying nationalism or that you were exercising British elitism. I just like showing people wrestling from their home countries. I often find that I've seen more World of Sport than most British People I meet. That disturbs me, and I'd like to think I can help fix that...

What do you think the chances are that they'll work an angle where Bryan Danielson is simultaneously Intercontinental Champion and World Heavyweight Champion? Has something similar like that ever happened before in WWE?(not counting some title + tag team championship). I know it could possibly be a jumping the shark moment, but I would like it since I enjoy seeing him perform. Edit: I would like it if he developed more of a personality though, he seems too awkward and unsure of himself on a mic right now.

Yeah, they really need to let him be himself more. Maybe spark his creative side a bit and let go wild with it.
While I don't see it happening with Bryan Danielson, it would probably be too much too soon.
I don't quite remember someone having both Intercontinental and Heavyweight titles at the same time. Warrior vacated the IC belt when he won the Heavyweight belt, and Hunter simply unified the two belts until 2003.

Anything uploaded by the channel "WWEfanation" is an official WWE upload. They put up full episodes of Smackdown, Superstars and NXT.

Do you think that Zak Ryder has a real shot at the US Championship Belt? Or is it going to be the business side that'll hold him back?

1) Why does Michael Cole exist? Why is he still around? WHY GOD WHY?!
2) Why is the undertaker's wrestlemania streak glorified? A good majority of his wrestlemania matches are against chumps and were actually fairly bad/boring.
3) Do you think Cena will ever turn heel, and if so do you think it will actually work?
4) Do you tend to prefer face runs or heel runs?
5) Why does the WWE keep talking about twitter? There is no money to be made there and yet all they talk about is X many people tweeted this, twitter is on fire talking about Y. I just posted on twitter Z.
