Assassin's Creed was boring and repetitive, but worked off of a good idea. They just needed to iron out the kinks a bit.

Then Assassin's Creed II came around and that's exactly what they did.

AC is just way too repetative in gameplay for my taste. (Both, though 2 was better than 1)

I enjoyed it. Yes it was repetitive but I found it interesting and fun. Too bad there wasn't much to do in the first game. I liked the second game more for this. I did like the setting of the first game though, I always liked the era.

You say you either love it or hate it? I liked it. It was okay. I didn't love it, simply because of the repetition but other then that I really liked the game. Still need to play the second one.

Better than the second one. Oh, the second one... I actually kind of liked Altair, but I wanted to strangle Enzio from the opening credits.

I found Ac 1 to be one of the worst games of this generation. On the other hand, I find Ac 2 to be one of the best games of 2009.
Hyperbole much?

Seriously, AC1 is worse than Damnation? Worse than Red Steel 1? Worse than Iron Man? Worse than any of the DOA Extreme games? Worse than Rumble Roses?

Haters gonna hate, I guess.

AC 1 was awesome, AC2 is basically the same in mechanics, except for more weapons, enemies, and accessories. The jump/climb mechanics are pretty much the same, except for the high jump/climb thing. I don't understand the hate for it. It is the predecessor and AC2 fixed the bugs, show some respect.

That's the Assassin's Stronghold in Masyaf. I enjoyed chilling out there too.

Despite all the times it's frustrated me, I really did/still do enjoy AC1. Sometimes you just need to run free and wreck stuff and kill things and collect things and the sandbox really lets the player cut loose and screw around. I haven't played AC2 yet but, I assume if I enjoyed the first one, I'll really like the second one.

As grindy as it was, I still had fun with it! Taking the role of Altair: The Arab Ninja was awesome for me, because I love the ancient middle east, and I'm a beginning Traceur (Parkour practitioner)!

I don't like either Assassin's Creed game. The plot is laughable, the games are glitchy, the controls never agreed with me... I see the potential for something outstanding but I don't feel they deserve the praise they've gotten, especially the second one.

I don't love or hate the game. It was interesting at first and I was pretty happy, then 4 hours later and about 10 missions later I found I was still more or less doing the same thing. Thats pretty much the whole game ... going through the same repetitive motions again and again. I enjoy a challenge in my games, it became too boring to continue...

In many ways AC2 was better, but I didn't find it more enjoyable. The big thing for me was the setting. Italy during the Renaissance just didn't seem all that compelling - artistic, scientific, and architectural breakthroughs aside. The Crusades were much more intriguing to me, and seemed more apropos fit for such a concept. Plus, I'm not a fan of playboy-ish characters anyway, so Ezio didn't strike as interesting a chord with me as Altair.

Ultimately, I'm a bigger fan of beginnings than anything else (The Empire Strikes Back being an exception). Everything was fresh and innovative and mysterious. I also thought AC2, for all its gameplay additions and revamps, lost a noticeable amount of presentation value (Lucy's mouth got huge).

Assassin's Creed was definitely a win. An imperfect win, but a win. A beautiful game with some interesting concepts, great design choices, and overall good presentation. The only glaring flaw was the repetitiveness, but the rest of the game was so great that it was a great game regardless.

But what do you think? Opinions on the game, and explanations.
If it wasn't for the unskippable story segues you had to load EVERY TIME YOU STARTED THE FUCKING GAME after you completed it, I would have 1000/1000 achievement points in AC1.

as it is.... fuck it.

Assassin's creed 1 was a horrible game.

It was a game that has no bugs and its terrible. The gameplay is so repetitive.

Assassin's creed 2 was so much better than the first game. It removed the worst part of the first game and because of that it was a lot more awesome.
