So I heard that the new Assassin's Creed Revelations (due Novemeber) is going to feature Ezio.... again....

So heres my question. Do you guys like Ezio and want to see him again? Or has he already done one game too many already?

I personally think that Ezio whould have stopped with Assassin's Creed 2 and not even have made brotherhood. Brotherhood felt more like an expansion pack (an unneeded one at that) although I did love the multiplayer.

I think the new Assassin's Creed Revelations should have shown us a new place with a new assassin and maybe even have moved it completely to modern day. It almost feels like Ubisoft just want to squeeze as much money out of the francise as they can.

EDIT: OK OK, this is not Assassins Creed 3. It's more like Assassin's Creed 2.2 since it's offical name is Revelations, like Brotherhood was not assassin's Creed 3. My main point is still valid that we seem to be stuck with Ezio again when I think we should be moving on with another character. Why revisit old characters and old places?

I love Ezio, he's by far one of my favorite male protagonists across all games. He actually has a personality, and I like his character above all, so I'm all for this.

Also, this game will include Altair game play as well as Desmond, you can't whine too much.

I like Ezio, I really do, but I would've loved another jump in history. There's so many rich environments to explore throughout history, plenty of them with political intrigue that makes them perfect for the conspiracy-filled AC story. Ezio again means not that much variation in environment and atmosphere, which I would've liked to see.

But we'll see, as they're going to conclude Ezio's story in this one, include Altaïr and Desmond. Apparently we're going to see early 16th century Constantinople, which at least is very pretty.

I love Ezio as a character. I don't know what else they can do with him but I'm interested in finding out.

Sure he's cool, but they should move on. I think even his appearance in Brotherhood was too much. Come on Ubisoft, move on to a japanese ninja thing or something different.

As much as I do like Ezio's personality, I think 2 games with him was more than enough. Here ubisoft have a chair that allows almost limitless settings and main characters, and they seem to be bogged down with what they've got. But what they've got is awesome. So... I'm conflicted.

Revelations is not Assassin's Creed 3, only new ancestors get a new number. Anyhow, didn't some of the main people on AC leave? This may be the new guys experimenting a bit to make sure they get AC3 right. Plus I recall from the news article on here that you will be revisiting both Ezio AND Altair, which sounds awesome. And they might be trying to have some Desmond combat sequences and get feedback on that so they can get the future parts right.

I dunno, the way I see it the more time they have to brainstorm for AC3 and make sure it's great the better. And if we do get to revisit Altair with the mechanics and his character development (better voice actor too maybe?) I can't wait.

I do like Ezio though (I like all of the main characters actually) so I don't really mind him getting one more game.

I must change topic for a moment though to discuss something of world-shaking importance. The article you linked said the game will arrive for 360, PS3, AND PC this November. Does...does this mean that I won't have to wait months or are they just including that without knowing the actual PC release date to show that it is in fact coming out for PC? I MUST KNOW!

Ezio was cool, but I was about ready to say goodbye to him shortly before the end of two.

I gritted my teeth and tolerated him long enough to make it through Brotherhood, but it was a near thing.

This is especially tragic for me as I love Istanbul, I lived there for a few months and have visited again a couple times, its a beautiful place and I'd love to run around in an ancient version of it :D But if I have to do it as that annoying ass Italiano.. grr >.<

I like Ezio much better than Desmond. If anything, can we get rid of Desmond?

I agree that they should have taken the series elsewhere. They have a magical plot framing device that can take you anywhen in the world, yet for three games (excluding Altair's parts in Revelations) it has been in generally the same time period. Lets mix it up a little. I like Ezio as a character, but I feel like the games have the potential for more time periods.

Bluuuuurrgg... I was done with Ezio by the end of Assassin's Creed 2. And I still haven't managed to drag myself through the extended chore that is Brotherhood.

I've just never been that fond of the guy. Yeah, he has some personality, but at the end of the day he's yet another bloody infallible badass male protagonist that reeks of wish fulfilment.

The news that Altair and Desmond will be involved doesn't exactly mollify me. A robot of ostensibly Arabic descent who somehow manages to have an American accent during the crusades and some featureless git from the future with cringe-inducing dialogue. Oh gee, I can hardly bloody wait.

It's a shame really, I think the series has a lot of potential, at least in terms of gameplay. But the developers never seem quite sure about what to do with it. And the story continually insists on rolling over and shitting itself inside-out.

It's a bit early to call, but one suspects that they have transitioned to the milk-that-sucker-for-all-it's-worth stage of sequel development.

...

Eh, I'll probably buy the new one when it turns up on a Steam sale. Certainly won't be a day-one affair.

I know, right? How awesome did that guy look?? And it'd be a hell of a change in setting too! I wonder why they haven't done anything with that... was he not related to Desmond?

If you haven't played any other AC game/s then your word doesn't really count in this thread does it...?

Of course a character isn't going to seem repetitive if you've only played them once...

There really should be a 'I really don't mind I just want the game to be good' option.

I think the new one is going to lots of different locations and time periods, so I doubt it will feel like he's being over used.

You should note that the next assassins creed title is not in fact named assassins creed 3, but rather assassins creed Revelations, just like the one before was Assassins Creed Brotherhood and not Assassins Creed II.

The thing is that what the Assassin's Creed franchise represents for me is the virtually unlimited ability to have the game set anywhere at all in the history of time.
Although I'm glad that Desmond and Altair will play a part, I, and i think many others, would much rather both Ezio and perhaps even Altair were totally and utterly abandoned in place of new assassins in exciting new places with continual framing of the narrative by some shenanigans by Desmond.

For me its not about their characters at all -- we've already had an extremely arrogant one and an extremely whiny one, so as long as they keep switching up their personalities and adding new things to the game, AC will still be good.

At the moment, a third game with Altair and Ezio present just represents stagnation.
