I must admit I was shocked when I heard that assassin's creed was going to have multiplayer in its next installment and I've seen the multiplayer demo and I will admit that it looks well implemented, but my main thought is that does assassin's creed need to go multiplayer? I'm hoping that it'll do good and it won't completely fail, but whats everyones' thoughts.

I'm hoping that people will recognize that it has sold enough games to a single player market that it does not need to broaden it's market audience. Personally, I believe that if Fallout were to announce something similar their fans would throw a fit, but I see that it is possible for them to do it as well. It simply wasn't the way it was originally designed.

On the other hand, I can see a major angle into gaming that may be entered with this new multiplayer. If they do it right I will most likely eat my words and buy it, because I liked the direction of AC loved everything about AC2 and I hope they continue to get better in the future.

I don't think the game NEEDS it BUT I've heard how it supposed to work and it sounds like it has a lot of potential. As I said the game doesn't NEED it but if it works I'll be glad it has it.

I wouldn't say it needs it, but having seen a gameplay video, it looks like it could, potentially, be quite good. As long as they don't sacrifice the single player story for it.

No, not really. Multiplayer might help save the game from getting traded in for a little while longer though.

It doesn't need it and I would prefer it not to be there (shortens the amount of game design time that can be applied to the single player campaign). But if it is done well it could be fun.

It could be interesting, but could easily fail.

For example:
In the multiplayer preview, after completing an assassination you run away from the assassin that is now persuing you. You leap over a building and use an ability to disguise yourself and blend into a group of people having a conversation. This could be a problem if the group of people stands out and basically says "I'M RIGHT HERE" to anyone who memorized what the preset group looks like. Stuff like this could be a problem.

It looks it like it will be really good, but no, Assassin's Creed is the kind of game that really doesn't need a multiplayer mode. I hope this is something that stays with Brotherhood and doesn't carry over to AC3, because I would rather have a central well made, full Assassin's Creed storyline for the third. I believe that if they were to put the multiplayer into AC3 then they would spend too much time trying to balance it and make it work better, and that would diminish the overall game.

Doesn't really need the multiplayer out, but as mentioned previously it would add something new to the game. The single player campaign shouldn't be affected by it too much, i'm sure they know their strength lies in that.

Did anyone else not notice the needs and have no clue what the poll was about?

Anyway, I wouldn't have thought so, but now that I've read some previews it sounds too damn awesome to not have.

Or the total development time needed could be expanded to fit. If you pitch a feature that could increase sales then you could get extra budget.

Sometimes this isnt true, but just becasue something has MP doesnt mean the SP suffered becuase its there.

Thats what I thought about Bioshock, but it didn't really work.

The multiplayer looks fun however I hope they won't sacrifice the single player. AC 2 was a nice long campaign (a little long in some parts but that's a minor gripe) and I have a small doubt that they'll neglect the single player in certain parts for the multiplayer.

It doesn't need multiplayer, but the way they implemented it makes it seem like it'd be a nice addition to the game in the grand scheme of things.

My thought has always been that if they pull it off it would be amazing, perhaps better than the Single-Player, but it will be fucking difficult to pull off. No game I can think of has ever had multiplayer that is harder to pull off than this, bar of course games on consoles pre-online gaming

As long as a separate division of Ubisoft is working on the multiplayer, I don't mind. As long as no resources are being taken away from the main story, I wouldn't mind a multiplayer so much. If it was done in the fashion of Naughty Dog's Uncharted 2, (a good single player, with an decent optional multiplayer) I would be okay with it. But there shouldn't be any compromises with the main game. Because while it may be a good addition to the series, Assasssin'S Creed certainly does not need multiplayer.
