And what exactly are you implying with this statement? That since it is being developed in Canada by an international team that it will miss the mark?Soulfoodman said:Then you take into account that the game is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal.
Well, it plays up the fact that religion is a big ol' dirty con and a power game. Yes, it goes head-first into Sci-Fi to do so, but the parallel is pretty obvious.Mr.K. said:Well did AC ever really dig into major religious/political issues?
I don't remember them doing so, even with the stuff they dared mention they had to be very apologetic about so people didn't get too upset.
So you can fully expect this to gloss over anything that might ruffle feathers.
It's covering of christianity (particularly catholic, most noteably in ACII) was quite brutal.Mr.K. said:Well did AC ever really dig into major religious/political issues?

Yes, but not always an overt one.Soulfoodman said:Slavery was as relevant a point of disagreement between the British and Patriots
But it is reductive. I would rather prefer they don't go there than do it and being out of character about it. We all know slavery was practiced then, but it wasn't an issue. Not bringing it up (other than having a "slave" pedestrian type in the cities) is better than having people known for having slaves go "poor people, I wish I could do something about them".Dendio said:Dandark said:If it does come up then it will just be "Slavery is bad, good people don't do it cus it's evil!"There's no other way to view it imo.Zhukov said:I doubt it will come up much.
If it does, it will just be in a, "Slavery is BAD, m'kay" sort of way.
What? No. I am implying that since it is being made in Canada by an international team that they could actually try tackling the topic appropriately, despite the triple-A status of the game.Goofguy said:And what exactly are you implying with this statement? Well, considering the time period of the game and the state of slavery practices in the area that is going to be the central grounds of the game (to be more specific: indentured servitude, non-generational slavery of African persons unless on a plantation being more common, and the North colonies which did not have nearly as many slaves at the South colonies nor most of the hallmarks of later slavery practices, which are often cited as the most horrendous), I am thinking they will not give a full address of slavery practices. I would expect them to possibly venture into the attempted enslavement of the Native Americans (which did not go well) which was more common in that area (alongside an extensive indentured servitude structure) than the importing of African slaves in that area at the time.Soulfoodman said:What?
