Okay, now I know that this is a weird question. But recently, almost all my friends purchased Assassin's Creed II, and loved it. They soon encouraged me to purchase it. Which I did.
Now, being a huge fan of the original, I had high expectations of this game. And after having read reviews on the internet, I honestly expected it to beat the original game by a mile.
But. When I actually played the game, got through all the introduction, and actually entered the Animus 2.0, I could help but feel a little bit disappointed. We were introduced to an extremely unlikable character called Ezio, who almost everybody loves. Why, I don't know. But the fact is, I much prefer the character of Altair.
While it's true that Altair started off unlikable, he soon was knocked off his high perch, and he then had to earn the respect of everyone. With Ezio, he already has respect, so he remains the same kind of tosser throughout the game.
I know that this is only a minor complaint, but I have others too. Such as, the environments in AC1 were so atmospheric, and beautifully crafted, that the way that the major Italian cities are created in AC2 feels like a step back. They all feel pretty generic, and the atmosphere is often nowhere near as good as AC1.
Don't get me wrong, AC2 isn't a bad game. I mean, it removed all the side-mission rubbish from the original, and some of it is still pretty fun to play. But to be honest, I'll stick with the first.
