Gotta love how at least 20 people on the forum for a gaming magazine think that liking games is pathetic. Trollers be trolling indeed.
No hobby is "sad" until it's taken too far[footnote]Even then, if it's something you love then don't let the haters stop you[/footnote]. And I wouldn't use the word "sad" anyway, it doesn't even make sense. No-one's really upset that someone else has an obsession, and if they were to point it out then that would indicate that they were mocking them more than feeling sincere sympathy.
look at the word sad, If I see a homeless man sitting on the street doing nothing, wasting his meagre existence in drinking his care into oblivion, I feel a pang of 'unhappiness' about society, how I live my life and how I wish I knew a way that I could spend 5 minutes and get others to spend 5 minutes to help this person to be better, useful and not 'sad' regardless if he feels ok with his life or not.
Hence the same, if I see someone spending 80% of their life trying to get 1 more peice of rare armour in some game, which has no relevance to real life, just grinding some game, I feel that exact same 'pang' of 'unhappiness' that said person is unable to tke themselves out of that mind set and do something with themselves, anything, be it a job, or art or volunteer work or just playing another game..

Sex is a part of relationships, of love, it is NOT the foundation or the core of it, sex without true affection is elaborate masturbation and nothing more, for it to be the center of your life is sadder than having gaming be it since games do not exclude love while if you're a man-whore you'll never get the real meaning of closeness until you're change AND you're missing out on a lot of awesome games.
this furthers my point, doing the same pointless exercise in a game is just elaborate electronic masturbation, but then again, alot of life is just pointless repetitive drivel..
If your a game whore, you'll never understand the true meaning of gaming is to learn, you'll never get the real meaning of understanding until you change...
The definition of Insanity is repeating the same action and expecting different results. i.e SAD.
