Never, of course never, what a silly question. At what age does spending your whole weekend on a CoD, WoW--or whatever your poison is--binge become sad? Now that's up for debate.

To be fair, you don't grow out of videogames... you just have less and less time to spend gaming as your responsabilities stack up. If you feel ashamed of gaming... it's your call really... As far as I know there's alot of people where I work well over 30 that still tell their tales of Call of Duty or NHL '11.

In my personal opinion, it doesn't.

But from what I've observed society seems to deem when you enter high school as the arbitrary cut off. However, pre-64bit, smart phone apps, Solitaire, Wii party games, Madden, and console games with local multiplayer seem to be socially acceptable. I guess the whole thing stems from the whole social aspect, i.e. "drinking in a bar/party vs. drinking alone" logic.

I wasn't aware that it ever got sad to like games. I'll continue to like them as long as I'm alive, or as long as I can physically play them.

Spot on. Having babies puts a big dent in your ability to sit in front of a tv screen for hours on end with a controller in your hand.

It's sad, when you start to feel guilty about your passtime, no mater what age you are, or what the passtime is.

It's actually kind of sad to be playing them in your late twenties to early thirties. But then it becomes retro cool again in your mid thirties. So there's just that little patch in there when you should be doing something like having a career, raising a family, writing a novel or whatever your life's ambition is. After you achieve or fail your goal it's perfectly acceptable to go back to video games to pass the time until you die.

Some games kids just can't play. So I don't see why it should be sad... the themes may as well be very inspiring or serious, so why the hell not. Only your friends cutting themselves a leg off, not you.

What, you mean like when it becomes lame in the eyes of "Society"? Because THAT would be like 18-ish, give or take a decade depending on where you're from. In a conservative backwards society like mine, It's the single digit end of that range. I DO often get harassed by my parents for "playing with kid's stuff".

As for what Age it becomes lame for YOU (which is the only thing that matters for a personal "hobby of taste")......I don't know if that makes any sense. If you love video games, why would suddenly hit a metaphorical brick wall? You might get jaded enough to lose interest, because of lack of innovation.....but you wouldn't just go "Gaming has been an important part of my life for X many years, It's LAME now!"

OP describes an outdated view on gaming- they're just escapism, no different than watching TV.

In the opinion of the general, gaming-ignorant public? Anything over sixteen.
In the opinion of anyone who actually knows anything about videogames? There is no age. They're a form of entertainment like any other.

At the same age that it's lame to like music or TV and since both are common among people over 100 years old I guess you can be over 100 years old enjoying games (though some troll 13 year old will still pwn your ass at Halo)

I once went to a DnD game lead by a couple in their 80s. It was awesome. It's always a kick to meet someone older or younger than yourself that you share a common interest with.

Depends on the game really.

I mean, games that appeal exclusively to children are a bit odd to be seen anyone past like, 14 to be playing.

I mean, if you're playing Neopets at like, 20, then, I'd regard that as being a bit "Sad".

Doesn't that dibent on the game. I think it's sad if some one from 15 play's childrens game, but games like bioshock and portal are more mature than most movies.
