My RTS strategery:
1: Make small army, use to raid and annoy, avoid too much confrontation
2: Make heavy fortifications
3: Make big army, place in heavy fortifications
4: Use small army to lure enemy into attacking heavy fortifications
5: Destroy enemy army with defensive circumstances on your side
6: Send EVERYONE to enemy base for massive counterstrike!
7: Stay on the offensive until the end of the game!

My FPS strategery:
1: Shoot at people
2: Get shot
3: Repeat

Guess which type of game is my strong-suit?

A good defense is a devasting Attack. Pre-emptive strikes and Ambushes are my speciality which take the fight to them. If forced to defend i use scorched earth policy which sets the enemy up for the pain of over extended supply lines.

Never get into a land war in asia. Or a contest with a sicillian when death is on the line.

Defense.

In Age of Empires 2, the game that introduced me to RTS, I always loved the Byzantine Empire, because they had stronger walls and towers and several upgrades to help a defensive strategy. (actually if you look at a tech tree for that game, they have the most upgrades and techs and such available out of any civilization.)

I would hoard massive stockpiles of supplies, wage a minimal cost war and let my foes exhaust themselves, then strike LIKE A BOSS!!!!

Can't beat a stable firing position, which is better attained when on the defense.

Both. As a tf2 medic you have to babysit anyone who has no idea what an explosive looks like.

I prefer attacking. It's more fun and I get to rally the troops to co ordinate attacks.

I cant attack.
I dont have the balls for it
I sent my troops, when theyre half way I recall them.
So I just stand in my base waiting for my teammates to rape them.

I'm a mix, more towards the defense. If it's a base building game, it will be defense, but with constant attacks, more to irritate human opponents and to kill villagers or the equivalent. But I rarely stick with a plan and have a habit of going from complete defense in an RTS to mass suicide rush with every unit capable of attacking.

Shooters are kinda defensive... I'm the person who likes 1 shot instead of 30 so I go slow and try to kill with as little effort as possible. Unless it's TF2, in which case pryo and flame everything. Or sniper, but I haven't yet perfected the close range headshot.

RPGs are more defensive since I hate having a char die. Possibly why I usually go for the mage types, any class where you can kill before the enemy gets in range is a good one.

both? I defend the guys on my team who are attacking through various support tactics, while never actually attacking myself unless my team is garbage.

KEKEKEKEKEKE

I must rush like a bat out of hell to have true fun. If I'm on try hard mode, I'll play defensive, but I get bored of it and start rushing like a madman again.

Defense. What? I'm not courageous. I'm not going to charge into a hail of lead and/or zombies because it should be done, I'm the guy watching from a football field away with a highpowered weapon. But I do like stealth and subterfuge. Mmmmm Subterfuge.

Offense...my strategy is to overwhelm my opponent resource wise. Disarm him and then kill him. If I do not harass and annoy my opponent enough he may be able to muster forces capable of slowing down my expansion.
