In any game, FPS, RTS, RPG, etc, when some situation requires being on attack, like assulting a base, planting a bomb at a site being defended by the opposing faction or team, pretty much any situation that can be considered being on the "attack", or choosing to be on defense, like defending a base from oncoming attackers, defending a site from being bombed, holding a spot and not allowing attackers to advence, or any situation that would be considered being on "defense", which do you prefer?

Personally, I enjoy being on the defensive side of games. I enjoy holding out in a building while enemies close in around it with my team. I enjoy having to hold certain spots from oncoming attackers for a certain amount of time, things like that.

What about you, Escapist? Do you enjoy bieng the attackers or defenders?

It really depends on the situation. I enjoy attacking in first person shooters when you're usually by yourself, but if I'm playing something like Left 4 Dead, I'm always on defense.

I usually attack but I don't mind defending if they are attacking we aren't just completely pwning them on the attack that none of them reach our base.

I usually build up my defenses for ages (that means several layers of walls around my keep, complete with arrow towers and the like), then spend a good while hoarding resources until I have such a ridiculous amount that it'd be impossible for me to run out.

Then, when I'm ready, I empty my full strength out the gates (closing the gates behind them) and send them against the enemy base.

Numbers count for everything.

Defense. Easily defense. Even when attacking, i prefer a defensive posture. Let them come at you

I like setting up defenses. Even in games where I have to attack, I only advance a certain distance and then set up defenses before moving forward. I guess defense allows me to feel the joys of the "Last Stand." That is one of the most epic feelings in the whole world.

Defender, because in Halo 3 and CoD4 idiots always want to go fight for Sparta and leave our {insert gametype object here] undefended. Hell I have been a good defender over the years.

I'm more of a defensive person, in both strategy games and in more "twitchy" games, I prefer to be active, yet defensive. Hey, the defender always has the advantage, right?

Defense.

I'm pretty good at setting up choke-points and strategic gameplay when I'm given that small amount of time that defense often gives. When attacking, I just go into a savage frenzy, which only works when people are surprised. Otherwise, I just get holes blown in me quickly.

Plus, the feeling of invulnerability when you set up a near-perfect defense...well, it makes me happy in areas not traditionally associated with videogames.
