My brother attracts a lot of guys- he's pretty metrosexual, though, so I can see why they'd make that mistake.

As for myself- I mostly attract guys, it seems, but I do get female attention on occasion. It usually just ends up with me politely mentioning that I'm not interested, and then all is well.

I don't attract the 'wrong' gender. There is no 'wrong' gender for me. I don't generally attract many people though. At least not with looks.

Plus, even when I wasn't into guys, I always figured that if one hit on me, I'd at least take it as a complement to my looks.

I guess I feel a little better knowing that other people have been hit on by a gender they aren't that attracted too. I guess I fit more into the Betamale type to and working at Starbucks definitely didn't help the situation. Although one time I was actually asked out by my flamboyantly gay housemate and that was probably the most awkward let down I've given anybody. In retrospect though, I think I've had a few females hit on me also but I believe I was too naive to really look that much into it at the time.

Hey guys, I'm a man with a strange problem: I attract attention from a lot of gay guys. While I'm only mildly successful with women, for some reason I get attention from a lot of gay dudes. Just in the past month, I've had two guys ask me if I was interested in them and a few try to be, um... friendly with me. Sources say it's because I act like a beta-male and I have a feminine "boybandish" face. Go figure I guess.

Has anyone else a problem like this, either straight people who attract gays or vice versa? If so, how do you deal with someone liking you without being really awkward about it?

i get the same thing. ive been hit on by about twice as many guys at work then women. its a bummer.

I do attract girls (of a sort. Most girls who know me are incredibly awkward physically and socially) and a surprising number of them at that. But I do get a lot of attention from dudes as well. Of the six people I know who are attracted to me, four of them are/were dudes (two of them were MtF transexuals.)

It's a yes and a no from me. I tend to attract gay fellas and often make out with them if I fancy it, but still consider myself mainly hetero as I'd never go any further with a dude. I'm not sure if it comes down to a subconscious sexual confusion or just genuinely not caring. HmHmm..

I'm a chick who, at least in high school, seemed to attract more chicks than dudes. I suppose that's the curse of short hair and baggy "guy clothes" and being rather flat. I've often wondered whether I made a cute guy because of this.

OT though I've wondered a similar thing about myself but the opposite. Worrying I appear to feminine. Maybe thats the issue.

I get it quite a lot. I have a friendly, boyish face, slim body, and fluffy puppy-hair. Those occasional people who find me attractive are often girls who like 'metrosexual' men (despite me not being metrosexual...I think ), gay men, and - more recently - bisexual girls with a preference for women on the sexual front.

It's never causes problems for me, although being asked in a rather polite tone of voice "Can I suck your cock?" by a guy I met late-night in the library was hilarious.

Strangely, though, I only ever seem to attract girls from sight alone in gay bars, but in a 'regular' bar it's only gay men whose eyes I seem to catch.

My best friend went gay because of me, or at least that's what he told me, but can you really blame him? I don't mean to brag (actually I do mean to) but I'm really handsome, my other friend always got pissed at me because all the girls were flirting with me and I didn't notice it, mostly because I'm always too busy daydreaming to pay attention to anything that goes on around me.
But in all seriousness though I don't know whether he was joking about that or not I'm not good at catching on jokes, he said he used to flirt with me a lot but as I said I'm not good at detecting that sort of thing.

Throughout my life, I have attracted both males and females. Though it has been recently that I have drawn the attention of some transgendered people. While I am interested in both males and females, I am not certain that I appreciate the attention that I am receiving from the rare combination of the two. I know, it sounds odd, but I cannot explain it.

Call me old fashioned, but I'm pretty sure a male is someone with an XY chromosome and a female is someone with an XX. The only other arguable genders would be mutants like hermaphrodites (XXY), super males (XYY) and super females (XXX). I highly doubt anyone on this forum is one of those though.

Sorry, but plastic surgery/mentality doesn't change genetics.

Hey, take it as a compliment! If you're not into that, it's not going anywhere, so don't worry about it. It might suck to have to turn them down and see them get all sad, but it's no skin off your nose if you run into a few guys who like you.

I mean, I'm bi, but it's not hard to know what it's like to be hit on by someone you don't want to pursue a relationship with. (if someone's fat or ugly or really awkward, same principle there as if they were the wrong gender)

sex is a biological construct determining whether you have to Xs or a Y chromosome, you use the words Male or Female in this case

Gender is a social construction whether you're a man or a women and what role you play in society
