That looks great. I really don't have a good co-op game to play with my friends so we'll definitely be trying this out.

Pandering to the "achievement whore" crowd again valve? I will try this game when it comes out but I'm predicting a lack of substance and poor controls. We will see.
It looks like if you used a controller it would be a DSS.
It looks like Alien Breed on the XBL (which is a DSS). Only difference I can see is the 4 player co op over the 2 the XBL has. Even the story sounds the same.
Yeah they are samey, though you should note that alien swarm was released as an UT mod long before Alien breed was released in 2009. So Alien Breed is the ripoff if anyone of those games is.
But i rather think that games in the genre are same-y in general. Shadowgrounds from 2005 is older and has the same mechanics premise etc.

Actually the 2010 version is a remake of Alien Breed for the Amiga from 91.

Yeah I played the the original alien breed from 91 which is basically Gauntlet (1985) in another setting.

Anyhow Alien Swarm looks to be a good game with 4 player Co-Op. gotta love the price

Thank You Valve!

You specifically said you meant the Xbox live arcade game. And the valve game does seem to improve and inovate alot if you compare it to the amiga game :) Just wanted to clarify that Alien swarm (pretty bad name o. O ) doesn't copy from the xbl game :)

You were the one who said Alien Breed came from Alien Swarm. I was just showing you the correct timeline.

Meh. Usually I'm not one of those pricks who screams 'generic' at every new game, but... Generic.
I am perfectly content with Castle Crashers to satisfy my 4 player co-op sidescrolling needs.
Hey it's still free though, I don't see why it wouldn't be worth giving it a quick try when it comes out just for the sake of seeing if you're wrong? :p
True... I may take a look after I get my new computer. This one is my mother's and it doesn't have any space left :(

I never said that, you specifically refered to the xbl version. I already know of the retro games bearing the name. I just wanted to say that its highly unlikly that the game copies gameplay from the xbl gane as it was developed earlier.

What you mean they don't have a time machine to go to the future and borrow game ideas for the past???? That I highly doubt. Clearly the original was borrowed from the XBL remake. Any other way just wouldn't make sense.

I'm not 100% positive but I remember reading somewhere on the Steam forums that the game is only 2.5GB in size, so you might be in luck. :p

Out of curiosity, why? A majority of the best games and even films have had a mature (restricted) rating. I guess I would attribute this to media that is not restricted is being catered towards younger audiences which usually = bad.
I'm not aloud to have M games...
Oh, my bad. It's on Steam so I assumed it wasn't because you're underage.

Yeah I've been playing this since it came out now and it's awesome, shame it's so short though, but I guess that's to be expected from a free game. Can't wait till user made maps and even mods start coming out.
