Today, the BBC published this article online, about 4chan and I fear the worse.

...an army of cyber-pranksters swung into action...
This is typical of most published articles about 4chan and its actions, particularly of the [sub]in[/sub]famous /b/ board, however this is only a taste of the rather pointed language on the writers part. Now, we've all seen /b/ and Anonymous in action, and how it acts and this is causing concerns about actions by the aforementioned groups against the BBC.

Question is, do you?

Well they are basically cyber-pranksters, I don't think the BBC will get 4chan's attention. You make it all sound so dramatic, it's just a website.

You have no idea......

Seriously, they are pretty ruthless, they hacked the man of the year thing from Time magazine, they ruin lives when they're determined.

The beeb will definately come under some form of fire for this, even though the article isn't really that damming, it just seems more like a list of things 4chan have done.

They can screw you over like solarbeam to a mudkip.
Treat it with caution.

BBC didn't quite seem to capture the strange fact that 4chan is the trendsetter for the internet. ICHC is considered perfectly acceptable for "Good people" to be looking at, despite the fact that it in its current form came from the same place as pedobear.

The article kind of glorifies them in a way. It's what 4chan wants. No reason to act against the BBC.

They've just written an article, I don't think it's even particularly negative, I'm sure 4chan know that the BBC can't really write a glowing article about what a fine, moral and educational place, and that all children should visit daily, but it's not slamming them either, just commenting that they've outed the cat lady.

Tbh tho, I don't think the cat lady needs to worry after the girl who was throwing puppies into a river.

4chan are fairly harmless unless you go out of your way to provoke them, like a certain Ms Slaughter.

Yeah I know what they have done/can do, but everyone talks about them like they have their noses firmly lodged up 4chan's arse.

In fact I'd say the BBC are more likely to come under fire from the British Press, who'll do anything to show the BBC in a negative way, and I wouldn't be surprised if the BBC's mention of pedobear turns into a headline 'BBC promotes child abuse online' on tomorrow's Daily Mail.

I think they're sick fucks, and I don't think we should underestimate their ability to be sick fucks. Because they are quite good at it.

"Another 4chan favourite is Pedobear, a harmless-looking ursoid cartoon character who, despite his loveable appearance... you get the idea."
Oh boy, some of that stuff was a pretty fun read.
OT: It couldn't be that bad. BBC will get a bit of trolling, but nothing major.
Or it could be the exact opposite of what I said.

I will be honest, I thought the article was quite impartial and informative myself.

No, 4chan's brand of Anon don't like media attention. Reacting will just give them more publicity. In Anon's mind all publicity is bad publicity.

Edit: Most of these major events that are credited to 4chan don't start there. They just finish them there.

I don't think 4chan would make a fuss over this. It's just giving them more attention, rather than insulting them in any way.

Hehe, ROFLMFAO my freind.

*brushes suit and tightens tie G-Man style."

OT: It seems like a good reason for 4chan to attack BBC, so they best be careful about their security systems in place.
