OK, let's face it. Voice acting has been existent in games for a long time. From what I remember even the first System Shock and Sam & Max: Hit the Road had voice acting (just in their cd versions).

It's been about 15 years since the release of both aforementioned games. And despite that, there are still voice acting "gems" around. Games that potentially rival the first Resident Evil, House of the Dead 2, the first Silent Hill, etc.

My question is: Have you played any game that had voice acting so bad you just stopped playing it for a while or completely? Or did you just mute the voices? Or you just didn't bother?

For me it would have to be the introduction of the Valkyrie Profile. It almost stopped me from progressing into the game. Thank god it doesn't have voice acting for all its dialogues.

P.s. For those of you who want to hear some of those "gems", here. [http://www.audioatrocities.com/]

Nope, Games with bad voice acting such as resident evil or house of the dead, aren't popular, because of their voices. Their popular, because they are good and serve as a form of entertainment. I mean to me, voices don't mean shit, when you have the chance to blow a zombie's head of with a shotgun.

So in conclusion, no I have not stop playing a game because of bad voice acting.

Dawn of War (winter assult, dark crusade, soulstorm) whenever you play the Chaos space marines the voices of the builder units and the cultists almost made me quit playing.

edit example: (If you have played any of the games you will know what I mean.)

"We will serve you, heh heh, we are eager to please" Imagine that this line is spoken in the most high pitched grateing voice you have ever heard, and then imagine it being worse.

Also I love the series and own all the games up to DoW2, I just play chaos with the sound off... and over work my builder units so they self destruct... and send legions of cultists to there deaths.

For me, I actually had to stop playing Two Worlds because of its horrible voice acting and writing.

Wet and Oblivion had bad voice acting, but they were both pretty good, especially Oblivion. If it's a good game, and bad voice acting is it's only flaw, i'll still buy.

I find the Sims voices annoying. Why couldn't they just make the speech into actual languages? That way I would know what to do and what they talk about of course.
Usually I turn off voices as I find it a bit rubbish to keep them on. They are no help at all.

God yeah, and the music in parts was a bit too loud to hear the voice, wonder if that was a blessing or hinderance?

Blessing, at least then you just had to cope with the zany mouth/face movements on the models.

Oblivion wasn't necessarily bad voice acting there was just only about 15 voices distributed around a map the size of a small island

Two Worlds!!! Horrendous voice acting. Made me stop playing (along with about every aspect of combat/gameplay in that game). In my opinion, that whole game was a "flaw".

In most games, you can skip cutscenes so I would say no. Even if you couldn't skip them, I think that's no reason to stop playing a game.
