I'd rather sit in the bottom of a shower to relax anyway, I mean I have to qualms with baths, though I still never feel clean from them, I just prefer running water.

999 times out of a 1000 I'll shower. But on that 1000th occasion I might take a salt water bath for medicinal reasons.

I shower only. It is not because I have any qualms about the cleanliness of bath it is because I am 6 feet tall and weigh over 220 pounds so I really can't fit inside the bath tub I currently have. Last time I tried it was just plain uncomfortable.
Know that feel bro :(

Though I have been known to, on certain rare occasions, shower to clean, then run a bath to relax with a few cans and some music. Bath drinking makes the bath less uncomfortable.

I really prefer showers for both. Showers are easier for soaping up and washing down; and hot water beating down on your back and neck after a long day is the dog's bollucks! If I'm likely to be in there more than 15 mins, I'll usually choose a bath, since I'm pretty sure my shower will use more hot water after that (money reason before hippy reasons. Fuck the turtles! :p).

I voted "shower only", but that applies more to my habits than my actual opinion. I mostly don't have baths anymore because I'm too tall to fit comfortably in the tub, and would really like a nice big thing like a jacuzzi but those are of course silly-expensive.

I take baths for the very simple reason that I am too tall for the shower in my house.
Yes, I'm as tall as you're probably imagining. I'm also incapable of lying down in said bath, I have to sit up.
I would take showers if I could, because they're much quicker.

That's a good point. When I talked about showers for cleaning and baths for relaxing, I failed to mention that I usually only make use of this relaxation to get rid of severe headaches or, on more rare occasions, body aches from working out.

That's another good point many people who don't like the idea of being in a bath at all should discuss their thoughts on jacuzzis and hot tubs, as many people may not immediately realize that as it is not swimming it's similar to bathing for relaxation.

Choosing a bath versus a shower is a pretty simple choice for me. All I have to do is look at my location: am I at my dad's, where I have no shower? Or at my mom's, where I have a shower stall that's too small to sit down in?

Given an acutal choice, I'd go with a bath for relaxation and a shower for getting clean. Baths are, in my opinion, the best environment for reading, so long as one is careful not to drop the book.

In baths, you're essentially stewing in you own filth.

They're damn relaxing, but I never really feel that clean after one and they're far too time consuming.

For me, nothing can beat a hot shower after a stressful day, I love the sound, I love the steam.
shower, then long bath, then rinse again after, LUXURIES ! that's how I roll ... on weekends

Quick showers for me. I am a bit too impatient for just sitting in baths and even hot tubs. I'll sit in the hot tub for a short period but then I have to get out and go to the regular pool to do some laps. I am a terrible relaxer. lol

Though sometimes I like the 'bathhouse style' of bathing. Our shower is encased in a small room on it's own, so I close the door and fill up a large container or bucket with very hot water. Everything is steamed up and I use the hot water, a jug (for pouring the water over myself) a wash cloth, and the regular toiletries to bathe myself while sitting on a stool. If I feel I haven't rinsed right, I'll stand under the shower nozzle for a second or two to rinse off. I only ever actually do this once a month, if that. But it's the closest I've come to being relaxed and just feeling toasty while bathing. Best during the cold months.

I am a bit of an effeminate guy I guess. I take showers to clean myself, but I also take baths in oils to relax, as well as to impart a scent upon myself. I usually read during these bathing sessions.

On the flip side, I think this is to help fight the malicious odor that wafts from my body after the slightest physical labor. If I soak in the oils it tends to disperse that maligned emanation.

I start with a quick wash shower to get clean. Then I put the plug in, sit under the water, and let the bath fill for relaxation and enjoyment. I then empty the tub and stand for a final shower to rinse off.

BECAUSE I CAN :D

That's what I'm talking about. It makes you feel awesome if you're tired, and pretty much seems to erase headaches.

I would use both for cleaning.

But I like a nice long bath and a short shower...unless I was cleaning my hair that is.

Both are awesome, especially on a weekend. ^_^

I mostly just shower, but that's because I have yet to find a tub that can comfortably accommodate anyone who stands over 6 feet tall. Though I do enjoy a good soak in a hot tub...if that counts as a bath.
