Spiderman. In the end, spiderman, has powers, and depending on which spiderman you want to use, different web cartridges. Lets see batman stand up to flaming webs.

besides, spiderman is far more agile. batman is an all or nothing fighter. he gets in close, gives a few quick heavy hits and knocks you down. Spiderman zips in, a few quick light jabs back out comes in from a different angle, does the same, zips ack out. All the while leaving webbing that restricts your movement more while he still has a full 360 to fight.

well it depends on batman even has the right gadgets with him at the time being.

and even then, there are different iterations of "spiderman".

i'd probably be inclined to say spiderman, since he can use all surfaces to advantage/spiderweb/super strength/spider sense

however if batman came very well prepared and it was in a very dark room to batman's advantage, i would say he would probably win.

You said a brawl, meaning Batman can't pussyfoot around and use stealth to eliminate Spiderman.

So you're essentially pitting a normal human against a being with far more strength, speed, and perception than a normal human.

Spiderman wins. Batman's no slouch, and I'd rather send Batman on more tactical, objective-based orientated missions, but in a straight up fight, Batman's a bit of a cripple in a super-powered universe.

My thoughts can be summed up by a few panels of the second Batman/Spider-Man crossover from the 90's...or at least they would be if Google Images would give me what I want, so I guess I'll just describe it.

Spider-Man is trying to convince Batman that they need to team up. Annoyed, Batman raises his fist and tries to punch Spidey while his back is turned. As the punch is thrown, Spider-Man grabs his hand and throws him over his shoulder, reminding Batman that Spidey could mop the floor with him without even trying.

*Could* Batman win in a fight? Sure, provided he really uses his brains and manages to disable Spider-Sense, but in a straight-up brawl it's not even a contest.

In a face-to-face fight, Spiderman would defeat Batman. In a larger-scale fight? Batman probably.

Spider Man is much stronger and much faster than Batman.

Then again, Batman is, well, Batman.

True, but Batman is only Batman because he knows the weaknesses of every meta human on the planet (and many off) in the DC universe. Since Spiderman is from the Marvel Universe, Batman will not be prepared enough to fight Spidy unless he was given a week to watch and learn about Spiderman.

Both are extremely smart and good at making gadgets, while batman has a larger budget, i think the fact spiderman has superpowers and i doubt batman could counter them all, so id say spiderman.

Going with Spiderman on this one. Not only is he strong and agile but also he's a tactical fighter. The Bat is a tough opponent for anyone but the ability to sense danger is incredibly useful.

[sub]I don't care if they nerf'd that ability, that's always the Spiderman I knew.[/sub]

If Batman gets time to plan, then I'd say it's pretty even. If not, Spidey would wipe the floor with Batman.

Besides, Batman would be too busy brooding.

I don't think you could compare them, Batman doesn't have superpowers. He's strong, fast, a good fighter and smart but no superpower.
Erm, do note that batman has gone up against SUPER-villains from time to time and come out victorious, and that some super-hero alliances have concluded that Bruce Wayne might just be the most dangerous man on earth.

Just goes to show tha super-powers will only get you so far. You still need innovative thinking and stealth/deception skills, which is why batman tend to win.

I'll go with Batman on this one. Spiderman is just too much of a green boy-scout with some super-powers.

Now let me expand on this, first of all I feel the need to let you know that this is not a popularity contest. It's not who do you like more, it's who would win in a scrap, brawl or other synonym for fight. Let's just say they both think each other is the enemy and they start a fight.

Now I can't stress the importance of this matter enough :p Back story approaching....
(Not reaaaally important to poll). Now I don't know how this came up, nor do I know why it hasn't been settled but we're actually about to go up in arms over this.. xD The odds are against me, because I chose Batman and it seems like everyone I ask is for Spiderman. I ask my friends, most of them say Spiderman, I ask anyone showing the slightest bit of intelligence, they say Batman (Not that I'm assuming only smart people know Batman would win [I So am])And since I deem the escapist forumers quite intelligent, I figured why not ask it here.

TL;DR Who would win in a throwdown? Batman? Or Spiderman?

{EDIT} Ok, I feel the need for some discussion value, so please state a reason, if you can.
I really thought this was going to be about which you think is a better story, is deeper and richer and treats its characters better. How sad, because Spiderman Vs. Batman is very compelling from a literary standpoint, with Batman being the only DC franchise that I truly give a shit about, and also one of the only truly dark ones, whereas Spiderman is by design usually (take it easy, true believers!) a lot more lighthearted than his Marvel peers.

So no offense, but the idea of who would win in a superhero fight doesn't really do it for me. In a universe like X-Men where lots of good guys used to be bad guys and vice versa, that debate might be interesting to me. Superman vs. Wonderwoman doesn't really do it for me, and neither does Batman Vs. Spiderman, because they're both good guys who would probably never end up fighting each other, especially since they're both legends and they would have to know about each other.

THe question is: would Batman even engage Spiderman if he hadn't done any research first?

Let's see, considering if it's basically the two "official" version's of each hero, a random battleground, and neither met the other before my vote goes with Batman on this one. Spiderman is a personal favorite of mine, but Batman has dealt with super-powered enemies many times over and has come out triumphant before. He's that right mix of intelligent, physical ability and gadgets that give him the edge. Oh, it wouldn't be an easy fight, but Batman would win in the end I think. But, I could be wrong, and we'll never really know either ....

Batman is the guy who invented anti shark spray as well as several othe marine repellents... god only knows what other tools he has at his disposal

all spider-man's got is his spider sense

besides if all else fails bats can just psych him out, spider-man is practically angsty 24/7 anyway

despite answering the question i agree with you fully there is very little debate value in theese vs threads, a comparison of story lines would be much more engaging and enriching.
