I think it's because Battlefield is a lot more tactical than running around quickscoping people, and BF fans get upset when you compare their tactical game with people complaining about Noob Tubes, quickscopes, hardscopes, no scopes, camping, wtc.

Then again I haven't owned a BF game since BF2, so maybe they do complain about all that stuff nowadays...

Us Battlefield Fanboys are mentally superior to our call of duty counter parts, we are smarter, quicker and more socially apt, we also tend to be sexier and generally better looking, interesting and not to mention modest. also this video pretty much sums it all up.

Everything has an overzealous part of the fanbase who cannot stand anything else that is similar to their thing. Its happened with the consoles, its happened to many other game series in the past, its happening with Steam and Origin and now its Bf3 and MW3. Fanboys, regardless of what it is theyre supporting, are all idiots.
I personally am going to get both games and be very happy doing so.

Why so? It's still a Battlefield game regardless of the changes. That'd be like saying if you like Dawn of War 2 but not Dawn of War, then you're not a Dawn of War fan. I see where you're coming from but that's too harsh. Battlefield:Bad Company 2 doesn't have the mechanics of the original games but if you like the game you're still just as much of a 'true fan' compared to people who play Battlefield 2. You have to be more specific than that.

The rivalry between the two series is silly, both of them are superbly produced shooters and have their own faults and merits. I especially don't like that somehow people act like the two games are vastly different, both of them have had frustrating rage quit moments and exciting "Oh my god I don't ever wanna stop playing this game, it is so fun!" moments.

Here's what former community manager Bazajaytee said on the matter:

BC2 is a "Battlefield" game in the same sense C&C Renegade is a Command and Conquer game, or Mariokart is a mario game. They have the same brand name, but they're not in any way similar in gameplay. (Other example: Try throwing all the Star Wars games in the same basket, and you'll get the same effect.) Would you really call me a mario fan if I'd only ever played Mariokart? A "true fan" and a "fanboy" are not the same thing.

It may be a harsh divide, but it's fair. The Battlefield "fanboys" are almost exclusively people who thought Bad Company 2 was the greatest thing ever (Mariokarters), and they're rooting for BF3 (Mario 128, or what have you) because they think it's a sequel to BC2. It isn't. Unfortunately, having seen the alpha I can tell you that Battlefield 3 is actually just Bad Company Two Point Five. So the fanboys will be happy after all, and the ones who transitioned out of BF2 into BC2, then back to BF2 because BC2 sucked, then now into BF3, will be disappointed. At least everyone I know in the competitive scene is either "hopefully this will get better" or "no, it won't happen".

As an aside, DoW changed so dramatically in the iteration process. The first one was a 1v1 game, the sequel completely ignored the 1v1 scene and focused on team games. The esports scene died as a result.

Battlefield fans are more annoying because they're also CoD haters, whereas most CoD fanboys simply don't give a fuck about Battlefield.

To be honest, I never really got into Battlefield like I did with CoD, but even so I'm not a massive CoD fan. I only really play WaW online these days, because it's less clusterfucky.

I'm just going to sound off here. Battlefield 3 "fanboys" are just goddamn ridiculous. Do us all a favor and shut the hell up. I'm not trying to paint Call of Duty fans as very respectful gentlemen, but they aren't the ones going on Battlefield 3 videos talking shit. The "fanboys" of Battlefield have always been trash talking about Call of Duty since it was announced, even before anything was revealed that sets it apart from all the other "generic" shooters too. And that's one of their key points when attacking Call of Duty. Pretty pathetic if you ask me, and I still think that Battlefield 3 hasn't announced anything to set it apart from the other modern FPS games, right now it just looks like Bad Company 2 with a new, damn fancy engine.

How do you survive that? On the Xbox 360 World at War is filled with god mode and a bunch of other hacks, same with Modern Warfare. I'm pretty sure it's the same on the PS3 too.

My basic opinion on the matter is that i feel sorry for anyone that doesn't play one game only because there is another game which rivals it which they do play.... YOU CAN PLAY BOTH PEOPLE.

In Call of Duty, you get to call in an airstrike.

In Battlefield 3, you ARE the airstrike.

Battlefield VS. Call of Duty, I would definitely have to go with Battlefield. Though I'm totally a hardcore Gears of War player, so I prefer Third-Person-Shooters.
I picked RPGs though.

I like both games.

I like Battlefield's Community better.

Both fanboys suck.

I think all of their games are good.

I think Call of Duty has been stagnating, but is still (technically) good.

That is all.

To summarize.

Fanboys suck, Battlefield offers immersion, Call of Duty offers fast-paced gameplay, and Arma offers Realism.

Team-only gameplay, Vehicles, large-maps, Conquest modes, squads.

Your right, nothing like the other games.

BC2 is definitely a Battlefield game, but it's an experiment. They added destructible environments, tried a new engine, concentrated on console development, added a lot more customization.

All of this will carry over to BF3.

Battlefield 3 will be the product of this experiment, it won't quite be a sequel, but it will integrate many features and re-use a lot of older ones.

I (obviously) don't speak for every Battlefield fan out there, but I hate Call of Duty for two reasons: Mainly because the newer games are, objectively speaking, not very good, but also because it represents everything negative about the gaming industry in general (the dominance of faceless, uninspired corporate copy-and-paste mentality, focus on sales over quality, generally pandering to their fanbase regardless of balance, a terrible community comprised of every negative gamer stereotype that exists). Did I mention that the new games are crap?

Also, Battlefield is just a consistantly brilliant with every instalment.
