Please discuss for my pleasure.
Sorry I don't know if this has already been discussed but I am fairly new to the message boards although I am a long time fan Ben "Yahtzee" Crosshaw's Zero Punctuation.

Can someone tell me how to edit the poll, and be nice I am new to this. And I am also fairly doped up with prescription meds at the moment which is probably why the poll doesn't make sense
just take off or empowering

The poll question :IS BAYONETTA SEXIST?

Your poll options are going by the yes or no spectrum, but the question says is it a or b. Which one do the options say yes or no to?

As for me, I'd say a little of both.

Yeah, the poll makes no sense. Need to fix that.

Anyways, I'll have to say "empowering", if only because I don't think she's sexist.

Let me answer this with another question, is Dante sexist because he is an attractive male whose a bit flirty and doesn't like to wear a shirt?

Whatever option fits for "shallow and fanservicey"
Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with "shallow and fanservicey."

I don't directly buy Bayo as sexist, but I think it's utterly ridiculous to call her empowering at the same time.

She's no role model, but she certainly isn't sexist. So I voted no.

Actually, the "females on female characters" panel at PAX specifically covered Bayonetta, and they honestly didn't mind all the fanservice. She was actually witty, kickass, and well-written, and it was meant to be an action game, so it balanced out well. What they don't like is when a woman is sexy...and only has that going for them.

It's not sexist. It doesn't define either sex as inferior.

It sexualizes the living hell out of 'em, though.

perhaps OP could give us a line or two as to why they think she may be sexist? I never played the game besides the demo. If she's sexist because she's a character for all the male teens to gawk at, then psh, there are PLENTY of female characters in movies, books, and games for men of ALL ages to gawk at, and the same goes for the vice versa.

Bayonetta is a collection of fetishes with no personality beyond what is commonly considered 'sexy' by heterosexual men. She is the most blatant, shameless sex object in video game history.
Haven't played that many games, have you?

I haven't played the game yet, so I can't say.

I have heard conflicting stories. Some have said that it is a sexist representation. Others (including women) have said that Bayonetta is a sort of postmodern dismantling of sexist representations.

So...since I haven't played it, I don't know.
