I don't find it sexist, but that's because sexism, racism, etc only appear when you start thinking about them.

So I don't find it sexist, OP, do YOU? :D

Not sexist.

If anyone accusing Bayonetta of being sexist had actually played the game or been at all familiar with Hideki Kamiya's previous games, well, they'd see why that accusation doesn't make much sense. He makes campy, absurd and fucking awesome games, and the fanservice in the game serves the former two all three, now that I'm thinking about it. Gun-shoes, after all.

It's just supposed to be a bit of fun. The fact that she does kick ass and that she does look cool [small](rather than just "hot")[/small] doing it makes her more of an empowering character than most.

[sub]And yes, she was designed by Mari Shimazaki. I'm not sure that makes a difference, though.[/sub]

I don't think it's sexist or empowering. It's just bright, flashy, arcade-style fun, following the design philosophy that has become Hideki Kamiya's trademark.

The reason i did this post was that I had asked a couple of friends what they thought and they all leaned towards it being sexist. I disagree to an extent. I recently read an article about modern women taking charge of their sexuality in a way that rivals men.I believe that Bayonetta is somewhat of a representation of this and I think she's a great character. or maybe I am reading into this a bit much and just enjoy for what it is Japanese arcadey madness. And there is nothing hotter than a women kicking ass.

also sorry for the poll mix-up but I was fairly doped up at the time and it was my first post on a message board. I tried to edit but it just stayed the same, is their a separate way to edit the poll?

No its isn't. As was said in the females on female characters dicussion. 'Bayonetta is hot, but she's not hot for you.' She is a strong charismatic female lead who just happens to be sexy and have a suit made out of her hair.

She is also a mother but also very awesome and kick ass, somthing that is rarely done. I'd say that's anything but sexist.

Let me answer this with another question, is Dante sexist because he is an attractive male whose a bit flirty and doesn't like to wear a shirt?
Good answer!
No, not at all, she's a smart and sexy woman who uses her sexuality to her advantage. She doesn't 'flaunt' it, she merely accents it, which everyone has their right to do. She's a woman designed to be admired, not gawked at. There was a thread about how she's a strong female role model a few months back. Find it, search it, it was fantastically well-written

No. Does it in any way belittle women? No, if anything, it makes them look bad-ass.

Yes, to all those who are looking for it.
No, to all those not looking for it.

See, the whole thing's subjective. Like Politics, Religion, Relationships and everything else that has a dualistic approach.

I wouldn't say it's sexist, it's incredibly camp that's all. Nothing more nothing less, trying to read more into it is a little pointless.

To be honest it's fanservice for men the same way shirtless Dante was fanservice for women.

I do not think this is a question MALES should be answering. Even in the height of misogyny males usually deny everything.
