I am a girl gamer, but I have my PSN as a pretty unisex s/n and I only use a mic occasionally. I make a good mix of male and female characters and so far I've never been hit on. However, I have gotten hit on by guys in the local gamestop. That's about it ^^; Sorry, not very exciting, I know.
Good! I'm glad to hear you don't get subjected to a torrent of guys asking you out all the time as I've known female friends on there who get sick of a few persistent guys pestering them. You're very lucky in that respect :)
I think it's just because I don't do multiplayer all that much. When I do, most people just bag on how bad of a player I am, nothing more. I'm sure the girls who play more often get the rude comments or the unwanted attention.

It just makes me sad to see what people become when there is a screen in the way. No man has ever told me IRL (Unless it's a close friend and we're joking around) to go back to the kitchen or any of that crap. Even the rudest people have some tact when facing a real person, but online people are their meanest.

Yes, yes I do... but I don't play console games or shooters online... so the only really competitive atmosphere I play in would be RTSes... and I'm pretty silent in RTSes, unless I'm relaying information to an ally.

Yeah I have some girl gamers on my XBL friends list and I don't see why not treat them the same, just unfortunate that my female gamers are terrible.
Not seen a lot tho

Yeah. To be honest I prefer to sit back and listen to them rebuffing clumsy attempts at creepy Americans hitting on them. Also I'm a shallow beast, and not all girls that play games are necessarily pretty.

...Also, not sad enough to do that. :L

In TF2, I don't have time to check if they're a male or female, I just make sure they're DEAD.

Shoot first, ask later.

I'm the same really. The only multiplayer component I try out is online co-op and hardly ever with a random stranger, just friends I trust to play fair who actually enjoy the game with me. I understand too regarding how people shield themselves behind the ambiguity of the internet, knowing full well they can pelt insults over and over and laugh from the confines of their basement without ever facing any retribution :(
That's why I gave up the COD+a lot of other randomly selected FPS titles *shudders*

Nope, I don't. However, seeing as I am a girl, that probably doesn't come as a much of a surprise.
The only time other gamers can tell I'm a girl, though, is when I have a mic. So I really haven't much, positive or negative, for being a girl.

So far I haven't encountered one, but I'm sure I would treat them the same as I treat everyone else; being mean is just not my style =P.

Honestly, if I hear one of the players is a girl, I like to pretend I didn't hear it. Why? Because there's no reason to get excited about it. Plus, I already get my ass handed to me a number of times during online play. Why add 'girl griefing,' as I like to call it, to the list? That aside, I like playing female characters online, like on Left 4 Dead. That way, if anyone makes a sexist comment or joke, I can just feed them to the Horde, or some rough equivalent. I gets me killed 2 out of 5 times, but hey. It's worth it. :)

A 10 year old girl humiliated me in RE5 once... But I sometimes am TOO nice for my own good to girl gamers. I dunno, I guess it's because there aren't that many of them so I tend to like it when I find one. Not that much difference though. Gamers will be gamers.

This reminds me of a story a friend told me how she went to eb games to buy C.O.D , and the guy at the counter was like " Your boy friend will really like this game"
and she replied " Its for me :/"
and the guy was like :8(___)

Which i thought was pretty funny. i would totally play online more if i could afford an xbox at this time. Man i wanna play L4D to bad orz

Ive actually heard stories of girl griefing lots of time, its so dumb~

My general view of other players online is as follows.

If I'm going to pass judgement on you at all it will be because either:

a) How good or bad you are at the game.

or

b) How you conduct yourself and behave during a game.

Whether or not a given player happens to possess a pair of boobs doesn't really make a difference to me.

I am not going to give you extra grief or special privellages just because you have ovaries (and I in return I would expect the fact that I have a dick to mean absolutely dick to you).

I'll admit that I treat girl gamers differently than most of the males I happen to play with online. Simply put, I treat the females with respect, while I basically ignore the males. If one of the guys I play with online does something worthwhile, I give them the compliments due, but I also tell them not to let it go to their head while the female I urge on with more kindness and respect.

There aren't enough female gamers out there, and as such I feel that they deserve more respect than the monstrous amount of men who try to twink out their characters and make them the uber-warrior, so I give the women the utmost in respect, and treat the males like children (which most are).

If I'm online and some girls talks me to "F" off or is looting my crap, I'll tell her off just the same as if it were some guy. And if they are willing to help me, hell, let them. I actually prefer female gamers over male gamers as most of them are generally more polite and are more willing to help.
