if anyone is from Nottingham or surrounding areas, 'Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem' have their own ale which is pretty damn good, and well worth a try

budweiss budvar :D one of the few pilsners that I like, really is exceptional, makes even european/australian largers seems crap, read up about how the US budweiser got the name and how they have tried their upmost to put the real company out of business countless times, horrible shady and ugly company, threats and blackmail are their usual ammunition

Ales, draughts, dark lagers, stouts and white beers from Britain, Germany, Ireland and Czech Republic for me, thank you very much.

Americans can't make beer. Everything is too disposable, no taste or character.

I'm a particular fan of the Fullers Brewery in England. Their London Pride and 1845 ales, and their London Porter, are the best I've ever tasted, and the rest of their line-up is excellent too
London Pride is delicious. My ale of choice. Good thing I can get it from my local grocery store.

Ah, Spitfire, my favourite non-Yorkshire beer. Old Peculiar and Black Sheep are better though.
Never found Black Sheep to be that world beating. Possibly because I was expecting something a lot darker given its name, not something the same colour as Pride or Pedigree. But that's somantics, pretty much all ale is good and welcome.
I couldn't really explain why I like it to be honest, I just do. But yeah, the name does suggest it should be a dark ale. Maybe I'm just biased as a Yorkshire man...
Entirely possible, I know I'm biased towards Hampshire brews, Wychwood brewery being the main exception. But not being able to adequately explain why you like a given beer is a perfectly valid stance, one I have taken on many occasions.
Well it's good to know I'm not being as unreasonable as I initially thought then.

Another place worth a look is Ye Olde Salutation Inn, has a brilliant selection of both beers and ciders. Nottingham rocks.

Been in a couple of times, always preferred the Trip for the aesthetics.

Can't argue, the trip has one of the best aesthetics of any pub anywhere.

While I would agree on the whole, there are apparently some good microbrews that are up and coming. Havent had the opportunity to try any but I would be happy to :D

but yeah its pretty had to argue against the quote in terms of what is available to most beer drinkers. But Newcastle Brown and Bass are supposedly making good ground in the US. When enough people get the taste and realise how vastly different [read better] other beers can be, there will probably be more and more real ale styles coming up out of the US

but then again, any beer is better than no beer :D

This weekend I had coor's. Last weekend was natti and budlight.

basically, it's whatever i can get, though I think Coor's tastes the best in comparison to the others, though I've been drinking so much I don't notice the taste anymore and am starting to enjoy it.

I like bud (in fact I have on in my hand right now!). It tastes good, is cheap, and will get my moderately drunk in short order. What more is needed?

Though the number of non-drinkers on this site is slightly worrying.

Nothing but artsy microbrews for me! Yes, I am a beer elitist, I admit it. Old Rasputin Ale, anyone? BTW, I'm a little surprised you didn't put Pabst Blue Ribbon up there.

I'm a fairly light drinker, generally only for special occasions (birthdays, holidays and such) and I like a variety of beers, from Lagers to Pale Ale and Pilsners.

Of the options given, "Imported", specifically "London Pride"

But I'm more of a Cider man. I could really go for some first pint refreshment right now...
