I'm quite the fan of Death Note.
Same here. I absolutely hate the voice of whoever dubbed Misa, but hats off to the guys voicing Ryuk and L. They both just sound so awesome.

Oh, you guys should really listen to some german dubs sometimes... (Normaly german dubs are VERY good, for example for american movies and such) But animes really get... mutilated VERY often. For example the ones getting broadcast on VIVA (something like MTV, started with music).

They took the MUSIC out of Hellsing and replaced it with 4Lyn crap (Numetal, cheap) and Alucard was voiced by some random 18 year-old dude from the streets - at least it sounded like that... couldn't take more than 5 minutes of that.

The Dragon Ball series' as dubbed by Ocean studios out of Vancouver BC for YTV (Youth Television). Those were excellent unfortunately they're not available on DVD so I'm stuck with Funimations job which just isn't the same.

Cowboy Bebop maybe? Yu Yu Hakusho was pretty good too. It was jarring when I heard the Japanese voices for the first time. They just didn't seem to fit. I might add FLCL to this list too. (If you couldn't tell, I'm not good at picking absolutes)

No one has mentioned FULL METAL ALCHEMIST yet??

That show GOT me into anime.

Hell even TODAY it's my all time favourite.

*edit*

I stand corrected, and ninja'ed.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. But since the english voice acting is the original, I don´t think it counts.

The FLCL dub is also pretty good, and I read somewhere that the american voices for Macross Plus and El Hazard are considered by their creators as the official ones.

Solty Rei would have to be one of the better ones i have seen and i watch all anime in Japanese first then English when it comes out, i like to see the difference and a lot of the time it is butchered but there are gems out there.

Gundam Wing.

To this day, it's the only anime that I watch with English dubs rather than Japanese ones.
That saddens me on many levels

^this anime is the best one in any language.
You ought to try watching RahXephon. It's like if you took the good parts of NGE, made the characters more likable, the story more compelling, and the symbols and allusions make sense. I liked NGE, but I love RahXephon.

YuGiOh: The Abridged Series. How could anyone say otherwise?
This.

Also Cowboy Beebop of the ones that you've listed. It's the only anime I can think of where I can't decide if I like the subbed or the dubbed version better. And with how much better Fey's english voice suits her... it may even tip it over the edge.

I chose "other" because I primarily watch subbed anime.
This being the case, although I prefer the subbed version, I have friends who have said that Fooly Cooly (FLCL) has one of the best dubbing jobs they have seen.

I was confused, when i first read the title of your thread i thought it was gonna be a discussion on the quality of the dub itself. I've always found the voice acting to be important to my enjoyment of both Anime and video games, even the notoriously bad dubs can be entertaining. However, I was under the impression that Cowboy Bebop was generally considered to have the best american Dub in terms of quality. Furthermore i feel that a good fan-sub is superior in quality to the subs that are released on dvds. Thats not to say that all fan subs are good, but i believe that the fan subs keep a better "feel" to the anime than the direct translations often given in DVD versions.
