I too cast the vote for Guts. He is maybe not as complex and cool as Spike Spiegel or others, but he is just awesome. He is only a normal dude in a brutal fantasy world and survives (and kills) by having willpower. Cutting off his arm, so he can fight on to save his woman, surrounded by demons in hell? No one ever came close to doing that as just a normal man.
