My favorite band of all-time is Foo Fighters. The rest of my top 5 varies quite often, though.

As for my favorite band this year, Them Crooked Vultures definitely wins for their fantastic debut album.

Infected Mushroom
Daft Punk
Styx
Dispatch
Gary Jules
Bad Religion

This list is very tough to make. Give me more than one to list but limit it and it becomes a challenge.

Big Black is my favourite band ever.

And that is all.
And here's a video of Big Black.

I fucking love Big Black. Albini is a god amongst men. I want his children.

ANYWAY; Is it bad that from reading about 2 other music threads on the Escapist, I pretty much accurately predicted just about everyones music taste? MUSE + METALLICA LOL.

Couldn't pinpoint my top bands of all time, I suppose I have my favourite and the rest differentiate. But of 2009? I don't know, Animal Collective got a lot of hype and they're pretty excellent so subjectively maybe them? Lightning Bolt? Dananananakroyd? Jeeez. There was tonnes of good albums last year, I suppose. I think if I'd been to more gigs I could really decide.

Band of the Year Award goes to Spinnerette because I adore Brody Dalle <3.
I'm curious if you feel that the Spinnerette stuff really compared favorably to the old Distillers stuff.

Honest question, the first single turned me off so much that I really haven't gotten around to checking out the whole album yet. I really should though. I've just been broken hearted by too many bands as of late.
Well, I think you can't really compare The Distillers with Spinnerette because they're pretty different styles of music. You can clearly hear Josh Hommes influence on Spinnerettes stuff and since I'm a big Queens of the Stone Age fan it doesn't bother me at all. So in conclusion, I love both, The Distillers' dirty Street Punk and Spinnerettes catchy Alternative Rock.
You know I think you're right. I've just gotta give Spinnerette a chance on it's own terms. Brody's still got the best rock and roll vocals out there right now in my opinion, I'm sure I'll find something to dig from them.

7: Muse. They are one of the few modern American bands I like. Plus their video for "Hysteria" is awesome because it pays tribute to the GREATEST MOVIE EVARR
Muse are British actually.
Ahh. Even though I like 'em I'm not a big enough fan to really research that, and I dunno why I thought their singer had a more American tone in his voice so I assumed. Thanks for the info though.

As far as genres go Classic Alternative is my number one, Folk and Real Pop are my seconds. Lo Fi, Classic Punk, Golden Oldies, Alternative, Broadway and other sountacks, and a mish mash of other things make up everything else.

I listen to loads of different bands, so having a definate list is hard.
I'm listening to these a lot at the moment:

- Rancid (punk/ska)
- Operation Ivy (ska)
- MC Lars (hip hop)
- Gallows (punk)
- Agoraphobic Nosebleed (grindcore)

As for genres, I don't care about them, only whether the songs are any good or not...
