I'd have to go with the original Quake. I played the shit out of this game when I was 8, and still love playing it. It has such an awesome atmosphere to it, and killing chainsaw wielding ogres with nails just doesn't get old.
Wait....I'm used of being the only person to have appreciated crysis, what is this witchcraft :SWoodsey said:Half-Life 2, since I don't count Deus Ex as an FPS.
Crysis would get a vote near the top as well - heavily underrated for the most part.
Pretty pissweak on my part to have not thought of tribes :S That game was unbelievably good, especially for it's time.arragonder said:Starsiege: Tribes massive massive battles all the way back in 1997 and still holds up today.
Thank you for having some senseTankichi said:Perfect Dark. It's my favorite.
Some of the greatest and most innovative FPS games I've ever played. Hexen even had a class-based system, and I've been through the game with all 3 classes a couple times. Working through on a Cleric again, but haven't touched it in a few days.Hop-along Nussbaum said:Anyone remember Hexen/Heretic? Hahaha.
ME is actually a TPS/RPG, so wouldn't qualify for this list.Conor Wainer said:Haha, for a moment I was like 'WHAT!? No Counter Strike!?' then I saw Half Life '98, so its all good. I was also concerned for a moment that ME wasn't on there, but that is really an RPG, so fair call (However, you included Deus Ex?). I think without Half Life, there would've been the need for something else of significant magnitude to get the gaming industry to this point, in terms of popularity of FPS.
