I don't care. Most the games people have mentioned (Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, TF2) sucked. I couldn't really say what year was best because I love games ranging from Doom to Metro 2033.

I liked 2008 better.

And so much more.

That's why.

But my favorite 2007 game was the Orange Box.

Favorite game that I actually bought new and played in 2007... DiRT. I didn't get Mass Effect until it was $30 for PC.

Mass Effect, definitely.

Although I finally bought a X360 in 2007 specifically to play Assassin's Creed.

And, of course, I picked up Bioshock and the Orange Box and loved both of them for ever and ever and ever.

Mmm 2007, good year, Bioshock, COD4, ME and AC all came out. I played COD4 the most but when it comes to pure quality, I'd say Bioshock

The only one that really got my attention was Battlestations: Midway, though I'll give an honorable mention to Endless Ocean for being so innovative.

Warhawk was 'aight too.

USE YOUR BRAIN.

THINK BEFORE YOU HIT THE POST BUTTON.

YOU OBVIOUSLY KNOW HOW TO FORM COMPLETE SENTENCES AND YOU OBVIOUSLY KNOW HOW TO SPELL WORDS LIKE "WASN'T", "BADGE", AND "TO" BUT YOU ARE JUST TO LAZY TO FUCKING PROOFREAD.

I HATE THIS GENERATION.

OH SHIT, MY SHIFT KEY WAS STuck, sorry about that...

And seriously, you do understand that the badges on this website are completely irrelevant in the grand scheme of life, and that the more badges you have the less likely you are to ever get laid, right? This forum is for communally discussing video games, not collecting fake badges... It's amazing how you guys can play so many video games, but not understand the basic science behind retarded rewards systems.

Now...

OT: 07 was a good year for games, but I hold that every new year games have only gotten better... not ALL games... but most.

I will say that I REALLY liked Bioshock though.

Definitly Bioshock. In my opinion its tied for best year with 2004 (Halo 2, San Andreas, Half Life 2, World of Warcraft, Ratchet and Clank Up YOur Arsenal, and Jak 3). I mean how couldn't it be with games like Orange Box, God of War 2, Mass Effect, Halo 3, CoD 4, Assassins Creed, and of course Bioshock)

For me, the best console years were 95' through 97', when we started getting the best of all worlds.
The PSX was finally starting to hit its stride, the SNES managed to amaze us one last time with Super Mario RPG, the N64 had finally launched with Goldeneye and Mario64 at the helm.

The best of the 2D games mixed with the growth and expansion into 3D.
PC gaming's golden years would soon follow, going from 98' through 04'.

2007 was better than average, but only compared to its neighboring years (and especially compared to present), but to me it was largely mediocre.

Niche markets that were strong naught but two years prior were now collapsing only to be replaced by the vastly-overdone (and now overrated) shooter family and that fad-toy Wii.

It's sad that in recent years, most of my favorite new games have come from XBLA and the DS, just because all the big name publishers are scared of anything that isn't a sequel or a ripoff of whatever is popular. Or shovelware, but that's been around since the Atari.

PC gaming is even more bleak, with abominations of gaming like Farmville and WoW pulling in the biggest numbers year after year to the exclusion of just about everything else. All of that variety and quality gaming we had is now gone, and probably gone forever (what's the last last space-flight made for the PC? X3 - Terran Conflict, and that game is just BORING.)
Most new games we do get on PC are either indie-titles, games that just flat-out require a keyboard and mouse, or are ports of Xbox 360 titles.

I'm not sure that it was the best year in gaming. That being said, it does have Phoenix Wright Trials and Tribulations, so I'm going to go with that, though Bioshock gets a mention.
Edit: So I've been looking some other years up, and I have come to the conclusion that 1) 2007 was not the best year in gaming and 2) I'm not sure what year is the best. 1997,1998 and 2004 all look and I'm sure that most years have some contenders that make it a candidate for best in gaming. It is not really quantifiable for me.

doesn't anyone remember that god of muthafriggin' war 2 came out that year, but anyway i wouldn't call 2007 the best, id say 2009 (infamous, borderlands, assassin's creed ii, modern warfare 2, uncharted 2, batman: arkham asylum) or even this year.

Since most people say '07 was the best year of gaming, what was your favorite one in 07? Mine was Assassions Creed.
Fixed for you.

Favorite game of '07: Team Fortress 2.
Was it the best gaming year?: I don't really think of it, so 'I don't give a shit' summarizes it actually quite nicely.
lol thx i'm just going for the 100 view thing lol
You are now aquiring rage from me. Enjoy the rest of your badge hunting, just remember, you missed the halloween badges.
