So far I'd say Dark Souls, amazing game.
But Skyrim isn't out yet and Minecraft isn't officially out ^^
Portal 2, Super Meat Boy and Deux Ex are also really far up there.

Witcher 2 was an amazing game; however, DE:HR was fantastic too...

But both had terrible endings. Tough call.

I wanna say Deus Ex: Human Revolution but thinking back, Little Big Planet 2 didn't actually have any faults that I can think of while HR had a bunch and while El Shaddai was great it isn't exactly GOTY material.

My verdit on GOTY so far Little Big Planet 2

Skyrim will be my GOTY overall though

EDIT: Oh yeah, Catherine isn't released here yet...DAMN YOU!

Has everyone forgotten about LA Noire then?
I don't know anyone who liked that game. It released with a bunch of critical hype behind it, but the writing was dull and the interrogation mechanic was unintuitive and poorly executed. Those two things dragged it down a lot.
I liked it--the writing reminded me of the films Howard Hawks used to churn out like The Big Sleep, MotionScan enlivened the cut-scenes considerably, and I thought the adventure game mechanics added a new spin to the aging GTA formula.

I wouldn't say Arkham City or Human Revolution are better, at least inasmuch as advancing the medium is concerned.. Portal 2, on the other hand. . .

This is just me personally but LA Noire was tedious.

A stunning lack of side-quests made the GIANT! sandbox completely unnecessary.

The driving tripped the length of the game, and hitting anything would tank your star rating so there was no reason not to let your partner do all the driving.

The facial recognition thing was pretty cool but it didn't make up for how stiff the rest of the game was
These are pretty legit criticisms, though I still thought it was the best game by Rockstar since San Andreas.

I have not played Dark Souls yet, and I'm waiting for The Witcher 2 to come out on Xbox. Once I play those two and Skyrim I expect my list will look a bit different.
Oh yeah, and Skyward Sword looks Godlike.
Skyward Sword might just surprise everyone and be the consensus GOTY, if Skyrim doesn't meet expectations (which is very plausible, given the insufferable hype). 10/10 from Edge and 98% from ONM are pretty promising early reviews.
