I enjoyed vice city the most. I thought it had the best radio and it kept everything simple and fun.

Little question: What is "it"? It's second from bottom in the poll choices. I picked San Andreas, largely because I enjoyed the way they had three different cities. Getting between them was always a pain though. That isn't to say that GTAIV didn't come in a close second. On second thoughts, I prefer it in some aspects.

Hey, calm down. Don't expect a reply right away even though there are some people online.

Due to the fact that i've only played San Andreas and 4, i'd have to say SA because it's a bit more crazy (dildo in the police showers anyone?)
The dildo in the Police showers first appeared in Vice City, which had a much better mix of music, wasn't so expansive that I just said "Fuck I hate driving on this game," but still was big enough that I didn't get all pissed off that I did everything in one place... Although, the addition of the monster truck was a VERY nice feature, as were a lot of the other mini-games... Hell, I loved driving the train around... that was an excellent mini-game... But San Andreas was just TOO LONG for me. With way too much of it spent on TRANSIT times... The only thing I liked about transit times was when I had the Harrier and could fly anywhere... Other than that, Vice City had more replay value as far as re-beating the game... Shit, now I want to play again...

Of course, in my defense, I don't have 4, or a system that will play 4, so I imagine it is better than both...
Actually, i couldn't even beat the first mission in SA for some reason. So i just inputed a cheat code that lowers my wanted level permanetly and flew over the border in a car for 800 miles.

vice city, I prefer the mafia and I found that whole eat too much and get fat, improve your strength and running and all that to be annoying in San Andreas and I like being able to aim the way you cna in GTA4 and the multiplayer and the shear amount of interactivity and comes in a close second

I don't see how people can vote anything but GTA4?! Every time I play it I have a huge grin on my face. Everything is much more beefier. Ramming a car into a person or wall actually feels painfull and capping people in the lags as they run has never been more fun. The rest were mostly a yawn a minute in my eyes (except for GTA2).
I do admit I loved the added ragdoll physics, but the game was nowhere as nearly good as San Andreas or any other past GTA game.

I vote Rockstar Re:makes GTA SA and VC.(I can't belive I just used the word remake!)

close call between gta2 and gta 4.

I'm still waiting for the return of the GTA 2 gang mechanics and car modding.

GTA 4 had a lot more immersion, but gta 2 had the most freedom and the funniest missions.

I voted gta 2, but gta 4 is a close second.

Although I wish I could pick a haircut.

Vice City for the 3d ones and London for the 2d ones. Vice City was the only 3D GTA with charm.

The first will always win my heart. Arcade, OTT, hilarious dialog and fantastic music. I really wish they didn't take the simulated life route.

GTA 2 was also brill.

I chose San Andreas, though it was hard not to pick 4 as it's technically superior.

When the sequels/DLCs come out for 4 I'm hoping that it will be even more technically superior and have all the extra side activities/missions/collectibles/businesses that SanAn had. Sure most people only enjoyed half of the crap they crammed in there but that still left you with a whole lot more to do.

I'm expecting that the climax of this generations GTA will be more impressive than any of the others.

Why do so many people complain about optional crap in San ANdreas that you don't have to do?

San Andreas, pretty much hands down.

GTA 4
San Andreas

One big city
Three big cities, with wide-open space between

Cheap Downloadable content
Free downloadable content (with wider variety)

Abstract vehicles include: Helicopters, if they count
Abstract vehicles include: Go-kart, RC Plane, jetpack, hovercraft, Combine Harvester, tank, magnet-equipped helicopter...(I'm probably forgetting a bunch)

Online play with up to 16 players
Online play with well over 200 players

I realize many people are eager to believe GTA4 lived up to the last, but speaking in number of vehicles, number of things to do, etc...San Andreas wins, pretty much. Sorry.

I personally think San Andreas was the better game due to it having alot more open space and was alot longer and more colorful (I'm not gay) then GTA 4.
I'm totally confused here.. San andreas colourfull?? It was the most dull gray/brown colour scheme to be used in any of the games. You're not thinking about Vice city are you? I never liked San Andreas. When I was flying over Area 51 with a jetpack trying to steal a UFO or something, the series game completely died for me.

EDIT: Oh yeah.. this too:

is it's not as big as SA
If by "bigger world" you mean "vast tracts of worthless, open space that are a complete waste of time and effort" then you're absolutely correct.
GTA countryside is a mighty dumb idea

To me it comes down to either vice city or 4. The reason i loved ice city is because I loved the atmosphere. It felt good driving around, and i knew the city pretty much in and out at the time i had finished it. I even continued to play with it after i completed the main storyline, driving around listening to the talkradio. I haven't completed 4 yet, so I can't really say yet. It's a lot different, so the comparison isn't gonna be easy. I like 4 because of the characters, the soundtrack (Best ever) and the more realistic look. Time will tell if I'll still hang around Liberty city after i'm done, but I'm guessing 4 is going to be my favorite. Too early to say though.
Country side is a Dumb Idea?
San Andreas hands down. It is different to the other games as it has an interesting open world. GTA 4's world is good, but it's all the same, just more city. San Andreas was awesome because it had three distinct environments- City, Forrest and Desert, and they all felt really good. Loved driving on the highway and seeing the environment change. Cops were different in each environment and you had heaps more to do - i.e. Climb Mountains, area 51 base, PLANES!

San Anreas hands down

I was more interested in vice city. Hearing the word fuck over and over again with some "gangster" in S.A was repetive after a while

They putted content I felt it didnt not stick with the story. They coulda had skip desert part (its just what I'm saying)

On a related note, for those who dislike GTA: SA, why exactly? The only vibes I'm really getting so far are:
1) Hated the size and travel
2) Hated playing a "gangbanger"
3) Hated the stat system (but I never really hear anyone say why...)

It just confuses me is all, and I'd like to know more. Because hey, the more you know....
