multiplayer:
Battlefield bad company 2. It's epic and it doesn't have silly killstreak awards. That's the major flaw in the Call of Duty modern warfare series in my opinion.

singleplayer:
Call of duty: modern warfare

I still play CoD 4... so it must have done something right... cant stand it's sequel though...

is Battlefield (BF2 and BF2142 NOT BC2) still considered modern? cuz if so my vote goes to the good ol fashioned Battlefield games. Yeah, the ones that actually featured a full scale 64-man sized battlefield with vehicles, commanders, squads and everything!

Im going to go with Bad Company 2 for multiplayer. For single player ill have to go with the first Modern Warfare, it was a real game changer. Alot of people dont even put thought into BC2, but ill bet almost every single person who's played it loves it completely

I think it will be Halo Reach when it comes out. Not because I'm a halo fanboy, but the weapons, vehicles and game modes are ace, and have you SEEN Forge World?

Plus jetpacks make everything better.
Now that I've seen that video.

Halo Reach.

I WANT IT SO BAD!

L4D2 its basically all multilayer but sometimes i feel like loner and play by myself. other than that... does Bioshock 1 still count? if so than thats one i think we can all agree on. if not Bioshock 2 is a close contender.

Singleplayer : Bad Company 1, the comedy made the singleplayer game something else. It was charming in the sea of grit that is fps storylines

Multiplayer : Bad Company 2, the destruction mechanic works well and the gunplay is tight

Umm Killzone 2. It focuses on actually realism, they don't make everyone as quick and accurate as solid Snake like they do in COD games. You actually need skill to play that game thats why people complain about it.
Bad controls are bad controls, it doesn't matter if it was done on purpose, and that's why at least 80% of people I talked to were turned off by it.

Also why KZ3 has changed it completely.

OT:

Gameplay wise: Fear 1 (the shoot outs still mop the floor with the likes of the next two games, and GASP the AI is good!), MW2, Halo 3(as much as I hate the franchise I can't deny its gamplay).

Storywise: Half Life 2, Bioshock/SS2.

MP: TF2, L4D1&2

FPS I'm looking forward to: Crysis 2, Rage, Bulletstorm, KZ3, Fear 3 ( hoping it's a return to form).

I'd go with Halo Reach.
Yes, it hasn't come out yet, but it does look great.
I'd be surprised if it all managed to fit on one disc.
And by the way, where's the poll?

PC: Team Fortress 2 for comp / L4D2 for coop

Console: Halo 3 all around / Resistance 2 for coop / Killzone 2 for atmosphere

well technically yeah it would be too big for a dlc but when i played the second one it just seemed unfinished and not so fun maybe if they would have put some more time in the game then maybe it would be more awesome but meh it's the first sequel from valve that im dissapointed with they done a great job with tf 2 half life 2 but left 4 dead 2 = meh

HAIL the king! Killzone rocks.

Either TF2 or Borderlands, I'd say.
Funny how I dislike Left 4 Dead because it gets repetitive, yet I put Borderlands as a contender.
Left 4 Dead might be higher up if I actually had friends who had the game and wasn't left with the goofs of random matchmaking that teamkill or leave halfway though.
