I have to go for the Incredibles (out of that list). Batman talked too much, Kick-Ass wasn't that good imo, the X-Men and Iron Man movies were good but each felt like they were missing something, the Watchmen was just as pretentious as Batman (give or take a Joker), Hellboy... well... you get the idea. At least the Incredibles captured the old-school four-color comic style while at the same time putting a new spin on it, without getting campy (1966 and 1995 Batman, anybody?).

What I want to know is where the heck is Spider-Man 1 and 2? Blade? The Matrix (technically sci-fi, but close enough)? Scott Pilgrim vs the World (again, close enough)?

Also, where's the cut-off for "modern" superhero movie? Can I still vote for 1979 Superman or 1990 Batman? If not... oh well, they still top the "of all time" lists.

The Watchmen - by far and away the Watchmen. And I'm not just saying that because I have a thing for Ozymandias. That's irrelevant.
Ozymandias is the best "villain" ever. I didn't say Watchmen because I thought the comic was better though, the film is almost a little too faithful; it has to cut out a lot, so the comic is superior in every way. He was such a great character in the comic...

But unlike most diehard Moore fans, I quite enjoyed the film. It wasn't as in depth, but it was very well done.

The Dark Knight

Hell, I'd consider that movie downright perfect had Mr. Bale not been doing his best Nathan Explosion impression every time he donned the Batsuit. And if Maggie Gyllenhaal was not in the movie.

Glad to see that Nolan's Batmans (Batmen?) are winning. They deserve it. So, yeah, that was my vote.

The Mask is probably my favorite superhero movie of modern time, and The Watchmen sits just under it as my 2nd favorite superhero movie ever.

Right... Saying something about humanity makes you a good film? Bill Hicks was a great film, then.

Good films:

Reservoir Dogs

Let the Right One In

Bambi
No, Watchmen is a damn good movie with a something important to say. I don't see how someone can say a good superhero movie doesn't exist when damn good directors like Raimi, Nolan, Singer, etc. are making superhero movies. Just because a movie has a great director doesn't mean it's good, but there's no way that all these superhero movies with great directors have failed to produce one good film.

I would love for you to list some examples of "good" films.

Do I taste a major dose of pretension in these comments? Yes, yes I do.
Pretension?

Oh yes, Bambi and Let the Right One In - such artsy, pretensions films. God, the amount of pomp in that childhood romp, arrogantly entitled 'Bambi' is sickening. Don't even get me started on LtROI - such a flavour of the month.

-_-

mine as well be saying

"I'm a film snob who watches movie trailers and deny's and sense of credibility from them because of there subject matter"

From someone who likes reservoir dogs, i would at least expect you to like the dark knight.

Dark. F%&$ing. Knight.

And it's not just because of Heath Ledger's Joker. The plot's great, the fight scenes are thrilling, and they actually blew up a hospital when filming one scene. Additionally, one scene takes place in my hometown of Hong Kong and I actually saw them filming that part on that pedestrian bridge.

I don't think that really qualifies as a superhero movie, but that movie was awesome nevertheless. Only Jim Carrey can nail such a role.
