Brazilian thrash metal. LOL But seriously, I believe that the Foo Fighters and Queen have so much win that it's not even correct.

My favorite band is My Chemical Romance.
I mainly like alternative rock in general.

And I know what you're all thinking, "Oh god, they're faggy emo's!! Go cut yourself!1!" and whatever...
They are rock. And who cares about their genre, I like they're music, Disenchanted FTW

Since I'm one of only 2 people to vote for techno, I'd better justify my answer... I hate when people stereotype techno music as annoying sounds and loud obnoxious beats, yes, there is techno like that, but the majority of it is catchy and calm (especially trance and house), and is great music to get me motivated to work on things.

They're, themselves are not REALLY emo, but they started the emo-wave, which I hate them for.

@OP "Hate today's music", seriously? There's being made so FUCKING much, it's practically impossible to not like anything of that. It's just that you have to look beyond charts and MTV...

Besides, this poll is absofuckinglutely pointless. Ever heard of something called taste?

If I had to listen to a certain genre for eternity, it would definitely be Classical. I listen to other stuff too though, hiphop, metal, dub, ska, triphop, dance, jazz, reggae.. But classical is number one.

Metal, rock, and rap are my cup of tea. Not a big fan of country though. I do like classical it can mellow you out or inspire the hell out of you depending on the song.

My favorite bands are Metallica(yes both new and old, i like old better though), avenged sevenfold, three days grace and many others.

I also like me some Kanye West! Well his music at least i dont like him personally XD

I got so sick of popular music in the US, I just stopped listening to it in general. I haven't listend to the radio or bought US music since 2006.

Euro-Metal is where it's at! Especially Symphonic Metal. What wonders expanding your views does.

Nightwish, Epica, Therion, Lacuna Coil, Apocalyptica, Paradise Lost, original Poisonblack, Sentenced, Darkseed, Angtoria, Coronatus, Volbeat, Blind Guardian, Beautiful Sin, Korpiklaani, Tristania, Sirenia...I could go on for hours.

Some of my favorite songs:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2sd8UMUaIk&fmt=18 Nightwish - The Islander
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lm5PCd3ZV_Y&fmt=18 Tristania - Tender Trip On Earth
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dys1_TuUmI4&fmt=18 Epica - Cry For The Moon
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vS2YTVYVPwg&fmt=18 Therion - Via Nocturna

Think that's more than enough.

Metal all teh waiz!
Just saying, if you like bands like avenged sevenfold, disturbed, slipknot, etc. put it under rock. Unless you really like metal, in case you should see a couple lines down.
Nu-Metal isn't metal :)
The bands I listen to include (most of them being metal, doesnt matter, mostly death, thrash, and black) :
Acdc, Aerosmith, ANNIHILATOR, ARTILLERY, ATHIEST, Bad Religion, Bal-Sagoth, Black Sabbath, Blind Guardian, children of bodom, CODEON, CROTCHDUSTER, Decapitated, Deep Purple, De Liruim's Order, Dream Theatre, DRED, Dub Buk, Finntroll, GOROD, Haggard, Iron Maiden, Korpiklaani, Led Zeppelin, LIQUID TENSION, Macabre, Martyr, Metallica, Necrophagist, Nightwish, Nokturnal Mortum, ORIGIN, Otyg, Poppy Seed Grinder, Rammstein, Rolling Stones, Stormlord, The Summoning, SLEEP TERROR, SYMBIOSIS, Symphony X, System of a Down, Temnozor, THEORY IN PRACTICE, Tingaralatingadun, Tuatha De Danaan, Turisas, Ulver, VINTERSORG.

Favorite Bands are in CAPS LOCK
Oh and if you guys are interested in metal, a URL for a site with 99% of all metal bands is below (i'm pretty noob here at the escapist and i don't know if i'm allowed to do links and stuff)

Evidently I don't need to ridicule the taste of the peoples music since most of the people who responded have pretty good or at the very least not bad taste in music. And if you want to talk about a varied musical taste, I'll switch back and forth from Elton John to Metallica, Stevie Ray Vaughn to Daft Punk, Frank Sinatra to J-Rock... ect. And I agree that not all ScreamO is angry but it is talentless. Screaming is acceptable in songs but just keep it limited to a few verses, the more you shout the more apparent your inability to vocalize becomes. Go ahead and find any random person to sing your favorite screamer song the play it back to yourself and try to say with a straight face that it doesn't sound like the original. As for emo music not being depressing I also agree, Its also REPETITVE, GENERIC, and BORING! Its metal for boys who wish they were girls and either deals with getting dumped, not having the testicular fortitude to ask the person who will dump you or talking about what you would do if you were dumped if the lack of the earlier aforementioned lack of sub-waist line fortification didn't have a playing role in the act. And to close this rant; As for opinions the thing about them is the only opinion you should care about is your own and if you don't like mine the close the browser and jack off to some Hawthorne Heights.

The Only New Band I've been able to enjoy without grinding my teeth is muse. Although my hatred for Twilight and some prepubescent teens contest on You-Tube that I was forced to watch the vids of has somewhat lessened my respect for them.
