Are you new to the internet? That's not how things work here. Come now, honestly.

I prefer select single songs I like over genres in particular, although Within Temptation is a very good band, in my opinion.

I don't resign myself to just one genre, for exmaple in my music folder I have: Metallica and Black sabbath, Radiohead, Men at Work, Gnarls Barkley, some symphony music, and a few songs by Pavarotti or songs with him in it.

My rule for choosing music is, that as long as I can understand what the lead singer is saying, and it isn't country I'll give it a chance.

Metal, but seriously, how would anyone decide a best music genre. Maybe one's favorite, but opinion doesn't mean it's the best...
As for band, genre and song:
Legion of the Damned (Death/Thrash Metal) - Killing for Recreation

Metallica and Sabbath! Hells Yeah! And Country ain't all bad. Give some Stevie Ray Vaughn, Allman Brothers and Lynard Skynard a shot, those boys got some serious guitar skills.

When I say country, I mean the songs about getting a pack of beer in a pickup truck from the store across the train tracks, you know stereotypical country, Lynard Skynard is all right.

Where...The FUCK... IS THE GODDAMN INDIE/ALTERNATIVE OPTION!?!?!?!

But really put it up there. My Favorite bands are Radiohead, The Shins, Pavement, Sonic Youth, LCD Soundsystem, Wilco, Built to Spill, etc.
INDIE IS NOT A FUCKING GENRE, its type of record label, what you like is electropop/synthpop.

I am also one who believes progressive rock is for the win.

A couple things.

1) Rock n' Roll and Metal should be the same option.
2) Techno should be Electronica
3) Jazz goes in the empty spot.

Seriously dude, jazz is the basis of 90% of all modern rock/hip-hop/rap/ska/metal/pop.
That's way too many slashes not to have is own option.
How is Rock n' Roll and Metal similar? There is a difference between Elvis and Cannibal Corpse.
They have similar instrumentation and the same basic structure.
But that doesn't make them the same music. There are still huge differences. Many people I know who like metal, don't like rock n' roll, and I know a few who like rock n' roll, and they think that metal is garbage.
