My show of 2013 would be Hataraku Maou-sama.

I can only remember seeing eleven shows this year.

1. Chiyahayafuru 2 - The show I enjoyed the most. Doesn't count because it's a sequel. Chihayafuru is brutal.

2. Devil is a Part-Timer - Satan gets a job at mcD's and loves it. The humor is top notch.

3. Kill-la-Kill - Kill la Kill probably will end up higher, but it's not even close to over yet so I don't want to pull the trigger. It's the first TRIGGER project that I'm watching till the end.

4. Attack on Titan - I'm just bitter about the ending. It would be higher if I was fair.

5. Problem Children - It got me interested in future season to see how the stages affect the group's powers.

6. Kyousogiga - Fun show to think about since it has a bunch of symbolism.

7. Danganronpa - Light-hearted battle royale. It would be higher if not for an inane twist.

8. Silver Spoon - It's goofy and fun. Learning about farms was interesting, but nothing else really brought me in.

9. Blood Lad - Very meandering, and the ending is bubkis.

10. Fate Kaleid - I watched it after Fate Stay/Nite. It was pretty OK.

11. Koutoura-san - Koutoura became one of my least favorite characters, just shocking how badly the potential was squandered.

Edit: I meant TRIGGER, not SHAFT. oops.

The only one of those I didn't watch was Free, I try to avoid the cheesecake/beefcake ones now. Might get around to it eventually though. I didn't like Kotoura-san all that much because it started out as an incredibly dark slice-of-life fantasy thing but then turned into a romantic comedy where her powers didn't really affect what happened.

Kill la Kill is batshit insane and I love it for that. Attack on Titan helped me get some of my friends into anime, so that's an idea of how good it is. It's just so damn good!

One of my other favourites was Silver Spoon (season 2 starts in January! SQUEEEEEEEEEE *ahem*, sorry). I originally got into the manga because it was written by Hiromu Arakawa, the author/artist behind Fullmetal Alchemist, but found a great educational, slice-of-life romantic comedy. Seriously, it's funny, heart-warming and just overall good, fuzzy times.

But no anime list for this year would complete without at least a mention of Wolf Children. It's directed by Mamoru Hosoda, a man that many are already hailing as the next Miyazaki. This movie made my cry manly tears of bittersweet sadness. It's similar to Silver Spoon in that it involves farming, comedy and a slice-of-life style, but the main character's children can freely switch between human and wolf forms. Get this movie at any costs, it's one of my favourite movies ever. Plus, the English dub is awesome!

Ctr+F "Gundam: Build Fighters" not found

Y'all motherfuckers need Gundam!
Seriously though, for a show that's supposedly just a toy commercial it's got some really good character interactions and fight scenes. As well as all that glorious mecha fanservice.

Kill la Kill is the best thing to happen to anime since Gurren Lagann. It's funny, over the top, with charming characters.

Don't lose your hype, bitches.

Praise be to Lawd Triggah!

Shin Sekai Yori
You got good taste. Shin Sekai Yori is my favorite science fiction anime. The over-arcing thought experiments are intelligently brought, discussed and the characters are multi-faceted. It's one of the few shows that's good all the way through.

OT: I never got around to watching it, but I am surprised no one has mentioned Maoyuu Maou Yuusha. It got a lotta hype earlier in the year.

I've heard a lot of good things about Attack on Titan and Kill la Kill, but I am voting for the first one.

I haven't seen it yet and once I finish my backlog of games that will be the one I'm gonna watch.

Well, I haven't seen The Wind Rises yet, so...

I guess the first 7 or so episodes of Attack on Titan were he best anime related thing I've seen this year.

Definitely Kill La Kill, no doubt about it. Just so over the top and funny and I like the visual style (even the more budget-looking stuff). I recommend everyone to check at least the 3 first episodes out. If you're not into it at that point, you probably never will be.

WataMote, a bit more low-key and down to earth (especially compared to Kill La Kill), but it is funnier than it seems. I would've liked it to be a tad longer, but oh well. And the opening theme is amazing [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAIAXFQ0T74].

Golden Time is pretty good too. A bit cheesy, but aren't all animes/series/movies about love more or less cheesy?

Attack on Titan is alright, I guess. I can see why people like it so much, I just personally only thought it was alright.

Will do, sir!

Attack On Titan would be my vote. Although at times it did drag on a little and felt miserably morbid when everything kept going wrong. It was very interesting.

Eh.. I liked Kill la kill, but I can't say it was the best. TOp five no doubt, but just... not best
MY favorite new show is Gatchaman Crowds, though the blazblue and Dangan Ronpa adaptions probably rank up there as well, alongside Watamote and I'm sure some other ones. I thought this was a good year for anime, even if the biggest hit (Aot) wasn't my cup of tea.

That reminds me, Did anyone here watch that Hyperdimension Neptunia adaption? was it good? bad?

huh, now that i think about it, between Neptunia, Dangan, and Blazblue, that's three different games with Visual Novel elements being adapted into shows. Coincidence?

Down for Attack On Titan. It has most anime cliche's and the characters over react time to time, but it's generally well executed (unlike Kill la Kill). Sometimes it gets really epic (with the help of the amazing soundtrack), and I personally hate seeing people get eaten alive so it works great as a horror for me.

Well, I'll vote for Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai!

Yeah, Kyousogiga deserves #1. It's the dark horse of the film festival. That artsy, low budget European thing that has something haunting and special about it. (that's just an analogy; for an anime it seems rather substantially budgeted)

But I'm giving Sekai de Ichiban my vote because I fricking love f/f ryona. It's really that simple. As much as I love Kyousogiga and Kill La Kill, Golden Time and Arpeggio Blue Steel, I've let their occasional episodes languish a day or two before watching if I've been busy.

If it's Sekai de Ichiban, I *make* the time.

Brings back memories of the hundreds- perhaps thousands- of hours I poured into SNES emulated Bishoujo Wrestler Retsuden back in the day.

Madoka Magica Movie 3: Rebellion- While I'm not seeing this until a weeks from now, I can say with full confidence that there's a 99.9% chance that I will love it.
*Pouts with jealousy*

This isn't being shown in any UK cinema's and is almost enough to make me throw a tantrum. I'd very much like my first viewing of this film to be a high quality version, but either Japan hates Britain or Britain hates anime. I cannot decide which.

Plus, I keep narrowly avoiding spoilers, even though I am trying my best to avoid them. Which is very difficult for popular things.

Your list is actually identical to mine with two exception's. I haven't seen Chihayafuru or Aku No Hana.

I know I'm cheating her a bit as the first episodes aired in 2012, but Shin Sekai Yori is fascinating. I'm only 7 episodes in but it's the first show I've watched in a while that actually disturbed me and made me uncomfortable. Which I love for some strange reason.
I feel I deserve recognition for recommending this one. A gold statue would be fine, although a good replacement would be my own False Minoshiro.

I am at episode 17 right now, and things are getting intense. You are near the episode that seems to have caused a lot of divide amongst fans (episode 8), but I think a lot of people forgot what was explained in episode 4, and so were confused for some reason.

OT: To add my own that haven't been mentioned.

Ghost in the Shell: Arise - I seem to be in the minority with the opinion that it is a worthy addition to the series. I liked the art and animation style, the new characters designs and voices as well as the plot. I especially enjoyed the change in the dynamic of Motoko and Batou's relationship, with them being antagonistic to one another.

Mardock Scramble: The Third Exhaust - The finale to the film adaptations. From an "objective" standpoint it has a fair few flaws, including a plot too condensed and scenes being too short, but I love pretty much everything about the series and felt it was a fantastic conclusion (although I have read the book it is based upon, so none of it was a surprise to me).

Noucome, because it is like a cute funny Saturday morning cartoon.

It is such a shame that it is 10 episodes and not 12, because it could have greatly benefited from it

Best I can offer are some gold chocolate coins my friend.

Seriously though I'm grateful for the recommendation ^_^

The only one I've seen is Attack on Titan... but it was amazing :) Still, I'm in no position to say it's better than the others. I may add the other titles on here to my to-watch list :D Seems Kill la Kill is getting a lot of love...

What? No love for Log Horizon? It is what SAO tried so hard and failed equally as hard to be in so many ways.

Intriguing characters, political struggles, and of course ACTUAL MMO mechanics.
Ding, ding!
We have a winner.

In seriousness I have to agree with you.
My choice is also 'Log Horizon'
While I am not going to compare it to 'Sword Art Online', because that is like comparing 'Dawn of the Dead' to '28 days later'. They are very different ... even if I think 'Sword Art Online' is totally overrated unlike 'Log Horizon', moving my bias aside to make all right in the world again, let me explain how I like it.

Right now I feel like that it is a deep undiscovered world which they will reveal arc after arc until we get to the big surprise, I'm just left wondering if they will reveal other countries/servers at one point. The characters have their own personalities and I see much that can go on between them in this world compared to before 'the apocalypse'. The story isn't the most important thing, but I like that so far, leaving us in mystery and as I said before, revealing one part at a time. Now sure, when we come to the style, it isn't all fancy like SAO ... but I think it works great with what it has, but if it did have the style of SAO ... this would probably become a instantly top anime in my list. Now my favorite part in this anime is how deep it is, it actually feels like a MMO and has mechanics just like them.

And obviously last, I can see a romance ... which I like.
Plus it has this awesome opening. (It is actually the Nightcore version since it was at the top. Well this is the version I most like.)

Notable mentions go to ...
- Golden Time. (It reminds me of Toradora but it is doing okay for now)
- Little Busters: refrain. (Is doing better then the original series, and has all the feels from the original Visual Novel too ... I just want more Kud or a mention of Kud Wafter)
- Tokyo Ravens. (I just got into it ... but I have no idea for now)
- Danganronpa. (I got spoiled but I still liked the executions)
- Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya. (I dropped it for now, but I'll be right on it at one point)
- Devil Survivor 2. (I haven't played the game ... but it made up for it)

Series that I saw, watched till the end ... but I opened my eyes after thinking and then said "Fuck, I jumped onto the hype train AGAIN!"
- Attack on Titan ... I don't feel like explaining this one.

This guy knows what's up. Maoyū Maō Yūsha, just incase you're inclined to look it up on a website that insists on using only the Japanese names.

You keep your moe blobs and yer titans. Bringing down a nation with economics with Gordon Gekko if he was a busty Demon King with a heavy crush on the guy meant to kill her is the shit.

In all seriousness it gave a fantastic insight into what happens economically when war stops.
