The thing i hate about these polls:

Oblivion and morrowwind (and to a lesser extent fallout 3) are basically the same game.

Fable and Fable 2 are the same game.

And isn't two worlds just a cheap knockoff of one of them?

I vote baldur's gate 2 w\ throne of bhaal as the best.

Mass Effect...and I agree that all the Bethesda properties should be under one listing, they are basically the same game.

Deux Ex is another excellent nominee for this.

If you're coming all up in here trying to tell us Mass Effect is the best RPG then I command you to play KOTOR 2 before you post. Both funnier and scarier than Mass ever managed and has the greatest video game villain ever. My vote is torn between Kotor 2 and Anachranox.

Also Bioshock is a fantastic shooter. But it's no RPG.

Best RPG story was definatly Final fantasy 7 but i prefer the battle system of 12 at least it didnt shit you up like 10 did i mean u would be walking along happy as larry, i mean tidus then all of a sudden the smashing of glass and ur in battle mode, so after the initial heart attack the turn system was a lil wierd but better then you enemy you enemy!

Zelda's not an RPG, never was never will be. They're all just action games.

My pick is either Shining Force 1 or 2.

lots of rpgs left out, easy to tell what your favs are. Serious you could just say fallout series (specify) along with elder scrolls an then list other rpgs and show more range of rpgs. FF would be a big one to leave it out seriously how could you, Mass Effect, Titan Quest, and others that I cannot think of at the moment.

That's what I was thinking too (as if that wasn't obvious). Although, given the option, I'd vote KotOR. I may prefer Mass Effect, but looking at it from an RPG standpoint, KotOR is superior.

I'm one of four other people who voted Fable, the story is pretty botched but overall it's still one of the best i've played.

I'm also under the impresion that i'm the only one of the four that admitted to voting for Fable 2...

Morrowind. Hands down. A better RPG than Oblivion, I thought, though at times Oblivion was more fun. But there still was less of an element of role playing in Oblivion, I felt. Ah well.

I thought oblivion had a great role playing element in small chunks. It only lacked the big 'the world as you know it will end' element. Try to view Oblivion as the start of the march up the uncanney valley.
