I think you've basically nailed (Har!) my own sentiments concerning KOTOR 2. I liked the shift from "baby eater" evil to "scheming weasel" evil that was available in more cases. I'm not saying that it was never obvious which options in the dialogue were good/evil, but at least there were more gray areas. KOTOR was an epic story with a cool twist, but then the second game came around and things got a little dirtier and less clear. That lack of clarity made it more real for me. Yes, I know that Jedi with energy swords flipping around and shooting lightning are hardly realistic, but seeing the consequences played out a little more made it feel more real to me.kitsuna said:and yet it worked. the fact that it used the D20 system basically meant that the developers didn't have to do much work in actually building the core, and could focus on the details. Which is really what made it great.Daymo said:Jedi Knight series. It gives you the most options for how you want to play, it has many different weapons, three different types of lghtsaber comabt and a heap of force powers. The combat in it is infinitly better than other Star Wars games I have played as well. Kotor just had dungeons and dragons combat with a Star Wars skin.
I actually liked KOTOR 2. I know it got a lot of bad press, mostly because it was unfinished. I actually quite liked the fact that there really was an excellent opportunity to explore the dark side, especially through the PC's relationship with Kreia. KOTOR 1 basically insisted that to be dark side, you had to be callous, stupid and just mean. In KOTOR 2 you were more sneaky, manipulative and cunning style of evil. Palpatine style evil rather than thug with a board with a nail in it evil.

It fleshes out a decent backstory linking the two trilogies together better than Revenge of the Sith did, and it's got fun gameplay with the sequel demonstrating that the developers at least listened to their customers and fanbase when developing number two. I just wish they'd kept some of the maps from the first game, like Bespin's Cloud City and that ice planet, or the fields of Naboo...[/quote
Trivun, my boy, you're missing out on two phenomenal games. I realize they've been hyped to hell and back here, and other places, but I think they take my Star Wars cake just ahead of the Battlefront series. I do love mowing through shmucks as a Droideka though.
