Majora by a longshot. It takes the elements of Ocarina of Time and makes them a billion times more interesting with the time-travel mechanic.

That's not to say that the others aren't as great.

Massively tough call, love all of them for their own little reasons. Wind Waker takes it just for the scope, art style and music, and for once tring to make ganondorf human. But obviously Ocarina and Majora have huge nostalgia and are epic gaming at its finest. Also the cube version of Twilight I thought was outstanding with some great temples and bosses. Also special mention to the Oracle series for the being the first 2 I completed and Links awakening for being the first one I ever played. phew.

Now, I love all the Zeldas on this list, but my vote has to be OoT and Majora's Mask. Windwaker loses a lot of points in my book for sending you on that fetch quest near the end of the game. And I felt that TP didn't do anything really new, just added fancy graphics (would have been better if there hadn't been Okami a few month earlier).

It's not fair that Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask are one vote. I get that they're like a matching set, but I didn't like Majora's Mask...so I'm not voting.

I think I like (mostly) all of them equally, but for different reasons. I guess the ones I play most are Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.

It goes...
Twilight Princess
Ocarina of Time
Wind Waker
Majora's Mask (used to be #3 but I'm replaying Wind Waker now and I just like it better. Majora's Mask has the worst bosses in the 3D Zeldas and the worst temples in the series. But the side quest stuff is ludicrously good).

Yeah, I like the series a lot better in 3D. The 2D ones are fantastic too, though.

Twilight Princess wins on the strength of its bosses and temples. The sword play is more fun than ever (I actually love the motion control attacks). And it has the double clawshot, the best idea ever. Another think I love: There are tons of fun Iron Knuckle fights in the game.
The dungeons in Twilight Princess were prehaps some of the best see in a Zelda game (Their's even a dungeon in a snow yeti's mansion, nuff said.)

Though the bosses were far too easy in that game (even more so than wind waker), and the temple of time dungeon was like the tower of the gods in Wind Waker, but even more frustrating, and tedious.

Who the hell came up with that crap, seriously. Guiding a statue through the whole dungeon was just stupid.

I really loved LoZ: Link to the past but Ocarina and Majora had an epic open world feel
(Well... I guess not Majora due to moons falling on your town unless you turn back time and whatnot)

Twilight Princess > Wind Waker > Majora's Mask > Ocarina of Time > 2D.

Twilight Princess used to be at the bottom but I'm replaying it right now (currently just finished Lakebed) and it is far more fun than I remember.

I can't vote because my favorite is tangled up in one I'm less fond of in the poll. Majora's Mask is probably my favorite video game, period.

Twilight Princess, while I enjoyed, I would have done much differently were I given the chance. First thing on my list would have been to extract Midna and all the Twilight Realm crap and put it in it's own game so I can have a game that focuses on it's protagonist rather than a Mary-Sue.

Wind Waker I absolutely loved for it's art style. I especially loved how it handled special effects like explosions and such, they looked like paper cut-outs. It would also have my favorite incarnation of Princess Zelda, except Tetra isn't Princess Zelda. And the game's legacy is kind of tainted by Phantom Hourglass controlling like ass and Spirit Tracks being complete and utter shit.

Ocarina, while a good game, has nothing to offer that it's successors don't have aside from a heavy dose of nostalgia and The Greatest NPC In The History of Video Games (I'll admit, I'm kind of a Malon fanboy.)

If I could design a Zelda title and marketing shot down my idea of making Malon the protagonist, I'd probably give Link dialog. The Heroic Mime thing lost it's credibility when the series went 3D and has been getting less effective with each successive 3D title, and the only reason most fans will deny that is fear of Nintendo's brains falling out and making Link more like his DiC (cartoon) or CD-i incarnations. Which is a retarded reason because Nintendo's been wordlessly characterizing Link since Ocarina (Twilight Princess' manual in particular talks about how Link is the most beloved and helpful villager in Ordon and the buzz is that he's next-in line for mayor.) and it's been about as far from DiC or CD-i's interpretation as it gets.

You could always play the song of time backwards to slow down the time.

It really helps, because without doing it, it's practically impossible to complete a dungeon without going through three days.

I wasn't the hugest fan of Manjora's mask anyway's, but the storyline, and setting was very interesting, I'll give it that.

W... aw, dude, I can't use your poll...

My favorite list goes like this:

1. Majora's Mask
2. Twilight Princess
3. Ocarina of Time

You lumped 1 and 3 together. That makes no sense :(

Excuse me? What? How does the game resetting every three to six hours affect the feel of the world? Majora's Mask is closer in design to Link to the Past than any other 3D Zelda game because the level design is centered around having the right items to pass obstacles rather than "The Plots Says You Can Progress Now" (Ocarina, Twilight Princess, I'm looking at you...).

For me, I'd put
Ocarina of Time
Link to the Past
Oracle of Ages/Seasons
Majora's Mask
Windwaker
Twilight Princess
Link's Awakening
Original
Zelda II (hahahaha)

At first I was surprised, and then wholeheartedly agreed with the decision to omit Zelda II

OoT and Majora's Mask were my favorites, I've beaten Twilight Princess and didn't like it nearly as much as those two although the graphics are a huge improvement over the N64 games. I really wish I'd gotten farther in Wind Waker when I had it, because the parts I played of it were awesome and I really dug the art style.

I actually played that very part yesterday. It didn't take long at all. I'll admit it was more tedious in Twilight Princess, though.

A Link to the Past - for me, the 2d approach has always meant the Legend of Zelda, and to date I have stuck largely with the various 2d based games of the franchise. Although the 3d games may have been good, I've never been as invested in them as I have with the 2d games - the 3d-ness gets in the way of the simple gameplay. I rather feel that too many people were awed by the ability to look around in Ocarina of Time, and this has led many to believe these are what the Legend of Zelda should be - I disagree, and believe that the change to 3d is detracting from what the Legend of Zelda should be. Originally, you have Mario and Zelda as two very different games: the first was a sidescroller, and the second was a top-down action adventure game. Yet, by making the move to 3d with both franchises, they've effectively become the same game in terms of gameplay - a 3d platformer. You can dress it up differently, but they still feel so similar in terms of actual gameplay that it seems like something has been lost.

Link to the past, ocarina might have e\been a better game, but I finally got the "000" on link to the past and that was awesome (granted i was like 13).
