Axe handle. It's a fast light weight weapon that's already designed to be swung repeatedly so you don't have to worry that much about recoil. Not that you would get much since your basically beating rotting meat.

To be serious:
Something sharp, something like the Wakizashi (short sword, like a katana) or Kampilan (longsword from the Philippines). That way you can slice away and have mobility and not as much added weight as something else.

For the Lulz:
Swordfish

The ultimate weapon for any situation. A 2x4 with a single rusty nail, slightly crooked, sticking out of it. More powerful than 10,000 falcon punches combined if you can unleash it's true power.

I hate to bust the baseball-bat-fans bubbles, but the cricket bat will out last the baseball bat easily.

Even your aluminum ones, and you will struggle to bash in 30 zombies worth or skull with a light aluminum baseball bat, unlike the cricket bat which has the raw force behind it and the weight to make sure you do not have to hit twice.

I baseball bat for blunt force but a cricket bat has an edge for zombie decapitation

Cricket Bat:

Baseball Bat:

I imagine the cricket bat to be a lot heavier than the baseball bat, so it would do more damage to a zombie. Baseball bat however looks lighter, but that would be mean it is quicker than the cricket bat, and also you seem to have a slighty longer reach. If you want to blundegion a zombie, i would go for the cricket bat- i imagine that will cause more of a mess.

Personally i would go for the hockey stick though if were talking about survival with sport meele weapons, you can get more swing on it due to its length so it would do more damage then either the cricket or baseball bat, and it has a longer reach. However, for tight room to room fighting, the hockey stick could become a bit too cumbersome.

You mean there's zombies here? I don't know if I should be excited or trying to figure out who's going to get systemically killed off first.

OK, I just took my baseball bat to the batting cages. I'm rubbish with it against balls (about 50% hit) but thankfully zombie heads are larger and slower moving. When I did connect, it felt solid. Not like that vibrating painful sensation you get in your arms while using an aluminum one. wood is far superior to the aluminum. My bat is a Louiville Slugger which I was told was a good brand but not terribly expensive. can anyone recommend a good inexpensive cricket bat so I may compare the two side by side? (a relatively heavy one would be preferable).

If ive learned anything from bioshock, ive learned that a golf club will be my buddy if zombies come, sence it went into a normal man's skull a-ok, it could go through a zombie's head no problem
you are forgetting that it took 3 hits, and it broke after the third one.

OT: obviously a metal shovel. those things can take a licking ad keep on kicking.

or a rifle. like in the first One Piece manga where Ben beats up all those bandits with his rifle. (shank's first mate, smokes a cigarette.)

edit- i agree with the person above me. sledgehammers are fun, and efficient, and durable.
