Bathesda also made Cuthulu Dark corners of the earth which is still the single best lovecraft themed game. I would like them to do a sandbox cuthulu game that would in short make me leave my job and live a hermital console based existence only subsiding on the dew that accumilates on my windows

They only published CoC:DCoTE they did not develop it. Just like they published Wet and Rogue Warrior.

That was pretty tl;dr, mate.

Also, you insulted Half-Life 2's level design, so everything you've said is completely invalidified to me now.

The reason they help people release shit games is because they take their orders from ZeniMax, since they're owned by it. ZeniMax tells them to do something, they have to do it.

You'd of thought he'd of found that out before writing all those paragraphs.

Oh, and what's wrong with HL2's level design?

Can't say you hear that many complaints about HL2 and on the odd occasion you do, that has never been one that I've heard.

Like, ever.

I've loved elder scrolls and fallout 3, but every other game i've played by them has sucked. Star trek legacy and Rogue Warrior to name a couple.

Bethesda cannot optimise a game. Oblivion was poorly optimised and so was Fallout 3.

I would agree on that, I really don't see any problem with HL2's level design, apart from maybe three or four bits in the whole game that had shitty signposting.

Now, the vehicle handling, that's a different story...

The only problem I've ever had (I'm aware it's an issue for a lot of others) with the handling is when you're in the buggy and you have the boost button.

Deciding that a 'Nos' boost (or whatever it's supposed to be) would lock the tyres in place wasn't a great call. Never had a problem with the airboat other than that section is so long. It's a little jarring when the rest of the game is so wonderfully paced.

Bethesda is a great company and yes they have some bad games so what. They make really god games in house and will continue to do so. I really don't care that much about wet and those games I only want the older scroll 5 (and it has to be harder than oblivon on hardest difficulty).

Were you playing on PC? I'd imagine it feels more intuitive on that platform.

On my 360 the controls just don't seem to work properly with the analogue sticks.

Yeah - maybe that's it.

Wow look at what we did there.

A consoler and a PC guy, comparing thier respective platforms in a civil manner with no snyde remarks or flaming.

There is hope for us gamers yet.

Pie.

Why they are changing their business model, I'll never know, but they have slowly been doing that over the past ~5 years. It's like watching a 747 careening out of control, you know it's going to crash if they don't pull up, but you just can't take your eyes off of it.

I know they want a slice of the MMO pie, they just don't know how to break into the market. Fallout should be their MMO of choice because I don't think they will succeed with another fantasy realm MMO.

Though I am still holding out for a multiplayer TES (non-MMO) where you and a few friends can play together over the internet.

I've lost some trust in them...
I used to love Bethesda before Oblivion. The game was a downgrade from Morrowind, besides the graphics. The combat was too easy, leveling up was too easy, characters were bland, and the voice actors were mediocre at best.

Fast travel ruined some of the experience, because you no longer felt small in the world. Oblivion just held your hand throughout the entire game. Sure I have the choice of not using fast travel, but the world was just so empty. It's not a bad game, to me, it's an okay game. I still liked it. Oblivion just did not live up to Morrowind's awesomeness.

Fallout 3 was fun for a while, but I have most the same problem with it that I have with Oblivion. I've been told that the shooting is supposed to be "realistic," it just relies too much on VATS. Like Oblivion, the characters are bland and the story is way too short. Games shouldn't rely too much on side-quests.
