They should've just cremated him after they confirmed it was him. Muslims should not be offended by giving him a non-Muslim treatment because, by the standards of moderate Muslims, Osama is not a "True" Muslim and should not be treated as one. His corpse should be disposed of in the quickest manner possible so we can be done with this.

He didn't value the lives or corpses of the hundreds he killed, I couldn't give a flying fuck what they do with it personally. He doesn't "deserve" anything.

Honestly, we only have Obama's word that the Americans killed Osama. He could have been dead weeks ago.
I actually thought that wouldn't it be funny if he had been dead this whole time, and that's why he was so hard to find, cause he was buried 6 feet under... anyway, joking aside, I think that we should give him a proper burial, which he deserves as a human being.

as a brit, america fuck yeah! glad you guys were the ones to finally get him.

I kinda thought we'd never find him and they'd just bury him. the world has some sort of closure today. I say bury him in accordance with religion but in truth i couldn't give a fucking shit.

give him to the uk? we'll put his head on a spike on london bridge!

I don't disagree with that, but why add something else to the list? Just because America isn't perfect doesn't mean it shouldn't always strive to take the high route, especially in a case like this.
I agree with this. Someone has to stop one time and offer their hand in peace (although it's a bittersweet, "we killed your top dog" kind of handshake)

Being Serbian, I have been very dismayed by the western media and western politics on how my people were unfairly treated and portrayed during the 90s decade.

I can only hope that this "humane act" is indeed America turning a new leaf.

I am quite skeptical though. From what I have seen, Americans have always acted in their own best interests and will turn on whoever if it will benefit them.

I'll avoid getting off on a Balkan tangent, but I will say this... I do believe it's possible the Americans had him already killed/captured, but were just using his escape as an excuse to secure middle eastern rich mineral deposits and/or oil fields and now that they have what they want, they can end their hostilities. Whether or not there is in fact a conspiracy is irrelevant. What's done is done, i can only hope that the world will become more peaceful after this.
Well, I wouldn't hold your breath that America will totally turn over a new leaf. The US will always act according to their best interests (what country doesn't?), but I agree that hopefully this will be one step in a new direction for American foreign policy.

It's a body. It no longer has the capacity to feel pain or humiliation, so why not just bury and forget about it?

What I meant is that the Americans are willing to go and sabotage other nations if it will benefit them. Larger/powerful nations will do insidious things in cutthroat fashions: betrayal, deceit, etc.

The CIA of course has reputation of this kind of behaviour -- as did the KGB, etc.

Of course it should be treated with respect, we're not monsters, we're the good guys. Despite how heinous his actions were we'll bury him with decency.

Though obviously not a lot of money should be devoted to burying, give him the appropriate stuff for an Islamic burial and put him in an ummarked grave somewhere, that only the government knows. So it doesn't become a shrine or get desecrated.

No, I definitely agree. That's why I said I hope this is a step in the right direction.

Also, be careful in equating Americans with the actions of their government. Very few actual Americans want to go out and screw over other countries just for their own gain. Hopefully you can appreciate that as someone who is concerned with the way Serbians are portrayed in the media.

Yep, I know the will of the people is not always the will of the government.
i.e. even here in North America with NAFTA and all sorts of ridiculousness...

The upper elite lead the illusion of democracy... but what can you do...
