I'd say Bioshock. To me, HL2 just felt... eh. Sure, it's good, but the story made me feel more into Bioshock. At least you can somewhat dictate your personality.

BioShock, because it had the most immersive and best thought out setting since Escape From Butcher Bay.

Bioshock is fun and unique. Half life is repetitive and overhyped.

If I had to choose, I'd go with Half-Life 2. It came first, and is therefore more nostalgic to me, and it has more variation in the gameplay. In Bioshock, you're always under the sea, fighting splicers and Big Dadddys. HL2 mixes it up with spooky zombie bits, epic strider battles, giant bug sheparding, and the awesome part at the end.

Still, I love them both.
this^ its mostly why i like hl2 sooo much more then bioshock

I really can't decide. I loved the first half of Bioshock more than HL2, byt it falls apart after the twist. Half-Life two on the other hand is strong throughout and is longer than Bioshock.

I'll just flip a coin.

Heads, so Half Life 2.

Half life 2 wishes it was Bioshock. Story structure and more interesting characters, praise of course to System shock 2 as well.
But HL2 was out in 2004.Whilst Bioshock came out in 07.

Bioshock, since a full sequel to the game is coming out next year.

I'm getting tired of waiting for a SEGMENT of a video game to come out. By that I mean Half Life 2: Episode Duke Nukem Forever.

Half Life 2 stuck me as another over the shoulder dime a dozen fps with a physics engine thrown in oh hooray.
The Source Engine's physics were built from the ground up, not just "thrown in".
I vote Half Life 2 because there was more interaction with the people in your surroundings, mainly in City 17 though. Call it nostalgia or thinking like an old man, but I preferred HL2 because it was a pioneering game. Sure the action was flawed at times because of limited weapons (both in variety and uniqueness [or at least limited ammo for the cooler weapons like the AR-2 and Crossbow]), not to disregard the gravity gun of course, but I still loved the game.

Bioshock's objectivist world-gone-wrong was brilliant and did well to immerse the player into a new kind of hell, don't get me wrong, but I decided to drive the Bioshock voters crazy and give the edge to HL2 partially because it was the first of its kind, but also because it has the handicap of having inferior graphics which can really add to immersion (a critical factor in the decision here.)

This is a pretty epic versus thread.

I'd have to go with Bioshock, but it is a difficult decision indeed.

I voted for Half Life because I'm a big scaredy cat and Bioshock is disturbing throughout the game. I can't stop myself from imagining what has happened here before when I walk into a level, and even Ravenholm freaked me out quite a bit. I can't say exactly how I'd do in Rapture, but I'm sure it wouldn't be too great.

Have you all forgotten the old adage: "He who has a magical hand that shoots bees wins"?

Bioshock all the way.

Meh, I loved both for different reasons, still consider them to be some of the best "modern" Single Player FPSes.
Hmm, I seriously can't say which one I loved more.

I enjoyed Bioshock, but thought that they really really didn't make enough of the setting. I thought it was kinda repetitive, and there weren't enough gorgeous locales - it all kinda seemed like corridors. Half Life I felt had more variation.

Bioshock. I personally gave up with Half-Life after the head crab gimmick that I never understood. One minute I'm fighting officers and then bam head crab zombies. Though I never finished the game so I don't know if there is a story behind them, nor do I care to know if there is a story behind the stupid addition to an already dull game.
