If by "fan-unfriendly" you mean that a single member of one of their development teams decided to stop kissing fan rear end and told the truth, then yes, they are very "fan-unfriendly."
I agree the text size thing is unfortunate, but it's not like they're the first ones to create a game with that problem and then not fix it.
As said, they did seem to listen to pretty much every single fan complaint about ME1 and implemented many fixes even if they didn't always hit the nail dead on (with Scanning, for example).
The fact is, they are developers who make games they want to make and try to make money off of them. They are, in essence, a business. They listen to their fans, but they are not your friends.
