It's an alright place, the main problem is that it's full of Brummies...

.. what's worse is I used to live with two of them.

Oh God... the accents, I live near Stratford, which is south of Birmingham but not far enough!
At least I can get away from it for half the year though at Uni... only to replace Brummie accents with norfolk ones...

Duran Duran, all members
When I said Black Sabbath I was also talking about Ozzy. :p

But just cause Duran Duran is from Birmingham too, Birmingham gets no city cred!

Well Birmingham's not very famous for anything...they don't even have a good football team =p
Their American Football team is the best in the league though. My team got sodomised 90-0 against them.

Birmingham doesn't strike me as an unknown place. How about Scunthorpe?
I've heard of Scunthorpe and I'm British :p

Yeah... I was born and lived about 5 miles away from Birmingham. So I win the thread :D
I live mid way between Birmingham and Leicester. Also, I've been to city itself, so I claim your title of winner! ;)

Hah, I was born in West Bromwich though and I've been to the city like every weekend until I moved to university in Leeds, so I still win. I have much closer links to the city, so yeah. I win. :p

The only thing Birmingham is famous for is being one of the most racist cities on the planet back during the 60s.

He was referring to English football. Hence, True Football (not 'soccer', as you Americans wrongly call it... :p). This is a thread about Birmingham in the UK, after all...

How ironic that aside from Bradford, near where I now live, incidentally, Birmingham (near where I was born) has one of the highest populations in the country of ethnic minorities. Ever been to Edgbaston? Solihull? Sparkbrook? Yeah. Birmingham FTW :p

EDIT: Sorry about the double post...

Three things though:

1) I am English, a Londoner in fact.

2) I know he was referring to English football and that their team is terrible, I was simply stating american football as an alternative sport that they are good at, in fact the best in the University league.

3) Yes, Americans do wrongly call it Soccer, and it tends to grind my gears a bit (no offence). >_>

Hey I'm just a poor Englishman trying to get to grips with the game, if they tell me I have to touch my toes and think of my country, what else is there to do?

I mean...what?

Hmm, well, you have me there. Plus, it'd be highly impolite not to play by the rules.
