I have just pulled myself away from WoW(horde btw) and then I grew bored but i knew that If I went back into WoW I might get addicted.....again.
so I went to another billzard money spinner Diablo.
No sooner had I entered I felt like I was playing WoW just from a different angle.
So I went on to starcraft and had the same feeling in the back of my head.

And then I thought to myself are all of blizzards games evil in the sense that they are as addictive as a drug or are we the consumers to blame for our readiness to jump into these games without checking how deep there are.

Of course you are to blame for being "addicted" to any game. Games aren't like drugs, thats just the hight of sillyness to even imply it.

Yeah, blizzard sold something to the devil. When all the people playing WOW Diablo and Starcraft start eating us all, I called it.

Games aren't addictive in the true sense of "addiction". As in physically. They are psychologically addicting so any addiction you have is, quite literally, all in your head.

Blizzard isn't evil. WoW isn't evil. Their games aren't evil. And the players aren't (as a whole) self destructive.

No one is to blame. It just happens sometimes.

Your saying that they are evil for making a fun game? If someone can't tear themselves away from a game to do something important, that's their fault. Video games don't create a chemical need in your brain like drugs so you can't get "addicted". You can, however, play them a lot like me ;)

i havent played since WotLK im bored and want to see how things have changed but also dont want to get addicted again. (also Horde FTW)
I never really got into diablo it was fun at first but i got to the jungle part and got bored damn pymies are annoying as hell.
Starcraft and warcraft are good though not addicting like WoW.

Blizzard are evil, they just try to hide it with their donations to charity.

As evil is defined purely from your own moral values, then sure if you believe a company making products that you want, are evil then yes go ahead and call blizzard evil.

I don't buy the sad addiction excuse. Players will get bored with games, but no addict will ever get bored with real drugs.

Some people are just spineless and weakwilled.

How do people get addicted to the horrible games that Blizzard shells out? I played through them all and they're terrible, not just in story but also in game play. Soulstorm for the win.
They revolutionized the RTS genre not once, but twice. They made an MMO one of the top selling PC games of all time. To call their games horrible is the height of ignorance. You may not like them, but they definitely aren't horrible.

WoW is Satan, but no one is forcing you to give it your soul. If you get addicted to WoW then you probably will get addicted to other minor stuff, not to mention the actual chemical crap.
So basically, unless you're smoking or drinking or drinking you can't blame no one but your self.

I've played all three of the Warcraft RTS games and enjoyed them. I played Starcraft when it originally came out and enjoyed it but after thoroughly enjoying Dawn of War I just can't go back to playing a futuristic RTS where harvesting is so important in the middle of a battle. War should be about conquering the map, not mining resources. I tried to get into WoW but, to be honest, after playing CoH I found the gameplay boring. I don't want to have to hit the level cap before having any real fun, I want to have fun NAO.

I am however a huge fan of Diablo and am looking forward to the new one. I try not to take it too seriously and just have fun.

If there is any blame its on the individual. Honestly Blizzards games are rarely if ever original, unique or offer up anything substantial to their respective generes outside of polishing the hell out of tur... other companies concepts.

So the real "evil" is that people are gullible enough to get duped into putting blizzard on a pedestal.

So yes, I blame people. Just watch the "Single female lawyer" episode of futurama, with frys explaination of what people people want from tv. Then apply it to video games, and poof you understand Blizzards popularity.

(DAMN IT YOUTUBE, YOU LET ME DOWN AGAIN!)

Warcraft III introduced hero-based RTS. Starcraft introduced the idea of each faction having a totally unique roster. Yup, totally unoriginal.

None of Blizzard's games are more "addictive" than any other games. The second WoW becomes slightly not fun I quit.
