I'm pretty sure there was a thread about blood donation a few weeks ago, though as repetition of topics go I'm pretty ok with this one.

I'll give the same answer I gave last time. I think its a fantastic thing to do and I really should do it but chances are I'll forget all about after writing this and then never get round to it.

I am a total needle-phobe! I get so scared of needles a simple blood test can cause me to nearly pass out, giving a pint would surely make me pass out, and mess up my blood pressure! Even the thought of it is making me feel faint and queezy!

Eeeyup.
Just waiting for this random form to materialize from the NHS to say I'm not an inked up gay prostitute.

Seriously, it flat out asks if you've ever been, or are, a prostitute.

I would, if I became aware of a blood drive in my local area. Then again, I don't see that happening any time soon, so no. sorry :(

Hm, it's been a while since I last donated. But I definitely intend on doing it soon. I mean, I lose nothing and others benifit from it. It's a net gain.

Thanks for reminding me, heh.

Huh I have a tragic little story about this little thing. See I am blood type 0 Rh negative. Which basically means I could give more or less anyone. I have no blood carried diseases or anything as well. I have never even tried drugs or tobacco, so I haven't ever been at risk of an infected needle. I could go on forever detailing the very good reasons why our hospitals would love to get their hands on my blood. I want to donate blood to help people.

But there's one problem. Because of one tiny tiny thing they absolutely refuse to even draw and test my blood, no discussion or argument, just fuck right off and never come back. Because I am male attracted to other males.

I'm not shitting you.

Never have donated blood, probably never will. Not like A+ is hard to come by anyway. I guess it's partially because I dunno where I'd go to donate blood in my area.

Wait... did they actually ask if you were gay during testing or something?

If you were really eager to donate, couldn't you just go to a clinic where they don't know you?

...

OT: I should and I probably would. However I won't because I will have completely forgotten about it within half an hour of making this post.

Come to think of it, I don't even know my blood type.

Maybe one day I will confront my fears of needles...

I have taken so many injections and probably even more blood tests, but I still can't stand needles. I am well aware that they don't even hurt too... unless they mess up...

I already give blood every chance I get. Which is one every third months. And I managed to make my ex give blood, too, when we were still together.

Yeah, we have that in Australia as well, or rather a 12 month ban after having male/male sex, because anal sex increases risk of infection for the person whose anus it is. Nothing about male/female anal sex, of course, nor what role the person played in male/male sex.

So any chance I can convince anyone on here to go blood doning soon? Regardless of country donor levels are pretty low at the moment and it's becoming a pretty bad issue.
To be honest, I don't think that I can. I'm pumped so full of drugs for an illness I've got I'm not sure they'd even want my polluted blood.

I am an organ donor though, even though the idea of it creeps me the fuck out :-/

I keep meaning to do so and then I keep forgetting. It'd help if I knew where to give blood around here.

would if I could, but I won't be back in America until next August. I don't know if I can give blood here in China, or if I'd want to.

I'd agree, but I am really, really crap with needles.
I'm OK with needles. They, however, are not OK with me.

I have to have fairly regular blood tests, and the last time a nurse kindly informed me I have what is medically known as "shit veins". She did that whole putting the needle in and wiggling it around thing in one arm, then the other, before handing me off to another nurse who finally managed to draw some blood. Looked like I was a smackhead with terrible aim.

I'm one of those horrible people who keeps meaning to do it but never quite gets around to it.
I don't really have an excuse.
