I always say that books and movies are like fruit and vegetables: both nutritious yet inherently different. The idea that books are an active pursuit, while films are passive, is a myth - as fans of David Lynch, Roman Polanski, Andrei Tarkovsky, Werner Herzog etc will attest.
lol what would fans of Michael Bay, Roland Emmerich, and Simon West attest?

Hopefully that Shia LeBeouf can't act, the English aren't evil any more, and video games do not make good films, respectively.

I tend to prefer books, as I can easily get bored when watching some movies, but then I've sometimes prefered the movies of books, like I prefered the movies of the Lord of the Rings to the books (which I found to be quite boring).

Books. Books, books, books. At university I chose books over food. Once I stayed in bed for three days (well okay I got up and showered, and ate meals) just so I could read an unabridged version of The Stand in one go. In fact, I think if the human race died out tomorrow and I was alone in the world, so long as I could find a decent book shop I'd be A-OK.

Books without a doubt. I've got over 250 of them in the room that I'm in now (read all but five or six as well), and countless more in the house in general. I read whenever I've got spare time, and frequently make time to do so. In this past month I've read around fifteen, and more often than not read more than one at a time.

I do love films as well, though, I'm just not as much of an addict.

I love both. I also love videogames with good narrative. I also like all sort of different forms of film. Sometimes I like shutting my brain off and enjoying a spectacle (something like Die Hard) and other times I prefer subtlety and good dialogue (for example, The Social Network). Exactly the same goes for books and games I suppose. I'm very interested in astronomy so I read a lot of non-fiction related to that. But sometimes nothing is better than a sci-fi space opera.

You could say this means I'm easy to please, and that's probably true!

Movies.

I hardly read any books at all. That's just how much of an uneducated troglodyte I am.

I both read books and watch movies, and I don't see why there is a versus battle going on here. I generally like to read books to stimulate my imagination, and as long as a book is well written I will read it. If I want something visual I'll watch the movie. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Last of the Mohicans are both great novels and films, but I don't really have a preference of one over the other because they appeal to me in different ways.

I used too read loads but the last book a read from cover to cover was Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy triology in four parts. That was a couple of years ago. I watch about 3 films a week and try to watch new ones when ever I can but if its with freinds it tends to be a poor film. I mean the last great film i watched (for the first time) was True Romance about a month ago and none of my freinds have even heard of it. So I choose films just because I still watch um.

Being that I hate 95% of movies, I'll say books. I dunno, maybe it's something about getting to use my imagination while at the same time choosing when I want to view the contents of the book and how, while a movie plonks you down in place for 2 hours and basically forces you to view it in one sitting. Movies are also limited by time, and in that regard books are a lot better, since the reader can just stop and go as he/she wishes, and thus the author can flesh out both the universe and the characters more.

I also love video games, especially those with a good narrative.

I'm both, though because of school/work/time contraints I watch more movies than I read books. When I start reading a book I try and finish it as quickly as possible or else it'll get neglected and sit unfinished for months. I like books more, but it's much easier to sit down for 2 hours at a time to watch a movie than it is to sit down for 6 and read a book. The only time I ever can really read is during breaks from school. Over Christmas break I got to catch up a bit and read about 9 books, so I'm feeling pretty happy about that.

Edit: The whole sitting down for 6 hours thing is also the reason I don't play as many games as I'd like. For some reason, I just can't play a game for an hour or two.

To be honest, Movies. But I love my books and I intend to try and build a great book and movie collection. There are so many great films that i've missed because of my age, so I have a lot to watch. The same for books.

Books are better and have more content, but then, I certainly watch MORE movies than I read books, but I surely spend more TIME reading than watching movies.

Books by far, for a number of reasons. I could make a list of them but I'll just say that it's because I enjoy the medium more.

Same here, because you feel like you're a part of the story- instead of it just happening.
