Do you know of any books that could be converted into sweeeeet games??

Mine is THIS EPIC SERIES!

The King of thorns (prince of thorns) series by Mark Lawrence, If anyone here hasn't read it I reeeeally think you should head to your nearest book store lol

This alone would probably smash the gaming scene if it was well made.

Do any of you have any books you think would make epic games?

Game of Thrones
Lord of the Rings

So much great material to use. Lotr has a couple good games at best, they can do way better.

Better than Battle for Middle Earth? I doubt it.
I can't remember the name, but there's a series about cities that roam aroudn and eat other cities. That would be pretty cool.

I meant books that haven't been used yet.

This is the only Game of Thrones game that anyone will ever need.

World War Z: Call of Duty 2 mixed with X-Com style with different characters and different fronts of the war. Add some interactivity, ex. do you abandon Yonkers or defend until the last, and have your successes or failures influence both the characters and the progress of the war.

The Iliad and the Odyssey. It's perfect. They're the definition of epic. Plenty of boss fights all ready to go too.

Most of the popular book series have already been heavily mined by the video game industry, but there are a few places I could see where they haven't reached their full potential.

1. TOTAL WAR: WESTEROS. Yes, we have a mod, but a proper game with proper implementation of all the differing elements would, I feel, be an almost guaranteed hit, especially if they beefed up the politics/lineage side of things.

2. HOGWARTS. Some kind of quality RPG that let you play your own multi-year adventure as a wizard at Hogwarts, completely distinct from the events of the Potter novels.

3. DRESDEN FILES. A serial adventure game released in episodes, with survival horror/classic adventure style game play.

The Skulduggery Pleasant series, gameplay-wise at least, could make for a good game. The action in the book is so visceral and detailed that you can't help thinking what it would be like to play it. You can explore all of Ireland and use element powers while trying to avoid being detected by mortal civilians.

The Codex Alera. Descendants of the lost Roman Legion, with Avatar the last airbender elemental powers, fighting armies of Wolfmen, and later a bug race heavily based on the Zerg. It is awesome. Also, by the same author Jim Butcher: The Dresden file. A wizard/private investigator fighting evil in modern Chicago. If you heard of the show, ignore it. It was crap. He never even rode the zombie t-rex.

Ohhhhh Brian Keene's The Rising.

Because it's not just Zombies, they're like God's prototype human souls that he got bored working on and locked them in the void. Some science experiment crack the dimensions, and now when you die, not matter what, they take over your vessle. Actually anything that dies, animals too. They can talk, and they have all the memories you did while alive, and they have a really black-twisted sense of humor. They can't be beaten, they're are more of them then there are stars in the sky. They're only goal, now that they're free, is to go across the galaxy destroying all of God's creations.

They're not even all the bad guys. There are two others we only hear about- The ones attack the plant and insect life, and the final ones that are just pure fire that scorch the planet to ashed.

And when they're done with our universe? On to the multiverse. Inevitably, they'll find their way to heaven.

And that's why it be a great game, because the play character's story is doomed to failure.

you'd get a bunch of feminist bitching at homeboy's decision to murder all the handmaidens at the end of the Odyssey.

A new Dragon Riders of Pern game, would kick major arse, i would make it an RPG were you learn new ablity and earn new itams, but the main focus would be gaining control of you hold and becoming wehr leader. or you play as a lessa type character that would be better then you could talk to every dragon you meet and learn about there relationship with their riders.

the book of the new sun would be cool to as a open world game, the world is so interesting and weird, with lost of cool characters to meet, it will losse some of the intrege of the book because you would not be able to hide that the setting in science fiction, but i recon it would still work crazy well.

I'd like to see an MMO based around Discworld with each book bringing a new expansion to play through. There are already adventure games like Discworld Noir but I'd like to see something different, plus the source material is excellent and there is enough of it with such variety that you wouldn't get bored.

A Discworld game in which you play as Death.

Or a Mistborn game with two timelines for the trilogy (or before it) and Alloy of Law.

I think Mark Lawrence's work would make a much better set of movies or TV series than a video game.

Game of Thrones would make for a great roguelike rpg in which your character gets killed off every time you start to like him/her. Imagine a Mount & Blade-style game, just a bit more refined.

I think the Wool/Silo series could make for interesting atmosphere if done right.

Oh, God, yes, they would be perfect.

I'm gonna cheat a little and say Yahtzee's Mogworld could be a pretty good RPG.

Neuromancer could make a good game, though the story would need a bit of tweaking.

Pretty much this, although I think you could also do an action-puzzle type game where you play as Harry and fight various mythological creatures (or even Humans) in Chicago. It could also have an LA Noire like detective aspect that leads up to big fights.

Could you an imagine a Billy Pilgrim ride-along through the events of Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut?
