I'd say the writing is quite funny. Especially the Claptraps and the character intros.

Yeah the characters were pretty much the driving force behind the humor of the game. And some of the mission names were hilarious.

The best line in the whole game is the intro to Zombie Island of Doctor Ned, when Marcus is telling the story to the child and at the end, just after it fades to black, he says...

"You're adopted"
I laughed so hard i almost threw up.

No.

I loved the game. I'm a sucker for coop games, and it has really fun gameplay that I have a blast going through with friends. We've played through the game several times and through all of the content.

But the game fails to make any of us laugh with what was obviously meant to make us laugh and comes off as annoying, and just makes my eyes roll. We're not high strung people, we don't laugh with the game, but rather at it. Most of the genuine humor we have in BL comes from the inadvertent videogame stupidity. Like the time that my friend playing as Brick accidentally punched Clint Eastwood right off his crane and killed him. That was hilarious. Or when we fought the Destroyer and he turned out to be a total pussy. That was also hilarious.

Other stuff which was meant to be humorous strike me as complete misses. Such as the Claptraps, those things are awful. No thanks. The boss "taglines" as neither funny, or quirky. When we ran into Knoxx, and his tagline was "Doesn't like mondays! ^_^!!!"

Me and my friends in unison: "LOL WHO DOES LIKE MONDAYS!?!? A HURRR HURRR HURRRRRRRRRR."

The game was good regardless of it's failure to please me with any of it's unbearable writing. And I would like to see some kind of a sequel for it, although I won't hold my breath for any humor.
This. I can't really even snip part of it out, because it's all accurate.

"That's a swear!"
"Dude made zombies, okay? You're not the police of me"

I dunno it had it's moments. Nothing deep and memorable. Just little chuckles.

Borderlands can be really funny sometimes especially on the zombie island of DR.Ned. The claptraps are the highlight of funniness too, especially with the twist ending "CL4P TR4P,INGERGALTIC NINJA ASSASIN"

Yeah, I liked it. The first time I saw the 'nine toes he also has three balls' one really got me, but i wouldn't really say there have been a lot of other really good moments for me. Small chuckles every here and there, but I still need to play the DLC. Looking forward to them.
There have been some funny moments outside the jokes though. Running behind a friend before suddenly activating Lilith's phasewalk and blowing past them, watching myself on their screen as I run like a Kenyan. For me, its darn funny.

I laughed a preety good deal during the dialogue and the taglines for the bosses.
Also, i still can't forget the ending to the zombie DLC
(spoiler)
When you finally kill Dr. Zed and it starts rolling the credits and then it gets ripped up and Undead-dr. Zed gets up and the tag line "Undead dr. zed! -Holy shit" comes up i couldn't stop laughing!

As for the game otherwise, not always, BUT i prefer it not be. It's gameplay was great in my eyes. I loved the variety in weapons and all that. The visuals were gorgeous and i loved every second of the game.

I'm thinking of buying it for PC now that it's on sale on steam...

I have played borderlands A LOT. I've defeated crawmerax, cleansed jakobs cove, destroyed the destroyer and shut down the clap-trap revolution and all the way through have been treated to some of the funniest in-game dialog this side of portal. My most loved lines come from the secret armory dlc; with general knoxx spurting some of the funniest lines ever! also the characters of scooter, mad moxxi, the two soldiers (Derrick), and mr shank are also funny as hell.

so what do you lots think?
and what are your most loved lines?
I really LOVE borderlands but I never bought the DLC's just didin't have the money...

I love the clap traps that has to be said. Especialy the inter planetary assasin.
He was actually the only claptrap I liked: him and the punk style one. The others got annoying.

I laughed at most of the cutscenes the first time. When I'm seeing it for the 11th time, an unskippable cutscene, I'm seething. I ain't a-laughin'.

I feel like the whole game was written by a frat boy.
Not my style of humor.
